How To Choose the Right Foundation!
You asked for foundation advice; here's a helpful answer! When walking into any cosmetics store or aisle, it's typical to see women testing out foundation colors on their wrists. This doesn't often help you choose the right color because your arms are a different color than your face.
Choosing the right color of foundation is very important to getting the right coverage. Here are some tips to find the perfect foundation for you!
- Always test foundations on your jaw line and blend it into your skin. This will help you get a more accurate look at what color you need.
If you can see the foundation at all, it is the wrong shade for you. If you're still having a little trouble picking out the right shade, go to a make up counter. They'll find the right shade for you, although make up at department stores and make up counters is a bit more expensive.
**Do not get a foundation a few shades darker than your natural skin tone to appear tan. Use a bronzer.**
-If you're buying a liquid foundation, always wait for it to dry completely before determining if its the right shade.
-Sometimes you may be unsure about which shade to go with. If so, always go with the lighter shade, never the darker one. When you're at a make up counter, walk around and look at the shades in different lighting. Sometimes the right shade will look wrong under dim or too bright lighting.
-You're skin will change shades with the seasons -- a little darker in the summer and warmer months, and lighter in the colder months. This means that a foundation you bought in the summer may be too dark in the winter.
- When buying foundation when you have run out, always test it on your jaw line to make sure it's still the right shade for your face even if you've gotten that shade before.

My advice: wear it for the WHOLE day and see how it lasts.
For me, it's either a hit or miss. So, far mostly is a miss. I buy the foundation and try it at home. Not every stores allows you to test out their products before buying them and the ones that do I don't feel comfortable testing it on my face. However, I do agreed buying foundation in a lighter shade than my skin.
I like the ones where after you put it on, it feels like you have nothing on at all. And when looking into the mirror, your skin looks flawless. (:
Well that's good advice. I seen a girl with a pale face and brown skin. Bad...Bad.
Im pretty obsessed w flawless skin.
the most important:
first, USE A REALLY GOOD CONCEALER! that should help a lot and, most of the people dont even need anything else!
Here is my fav combo:
✭Yves Saint Laurent "Touche Eclat" // it's a bit expensive for a concealer, but I swear you wont be disapointed.
✭Clarins "Fond de teint lisse minute" amazingly lightweight for those who want the natural looking result.
✭Kanebo "Total finish" for a better coverage.
yeah, they don't really make my shade, It's a pale pale pale pale olive with a hint of pink... even when I go for consulting they get it wrong, usually the closest I can find is Ivory or 010 and it still ends up looking browish on my skin -_- it's the only bad thigh about being mixed portuges and swedish... otherwise it's a great genpool.
I use dior skin nude 010 right now and it's ok if I apply very very little.
What is the difference between foundation and concealer?
no matter what ive tried to use, i break out!
@Meowmeowkimmaee@xanga - concealer is for covering little spots, like under your eyes or any blemishes. foundation is used on the entire face.
Mm I usually test the color on my hand and it almost always works :) AND I can usually tell if the color is too dark for me as well.
um....I guess I will put in on my hands and put my hands next to my face to compare it. I don't feel safe putting on my jaws, I mean everyone touched it.
Anyways....I rarely wear make up (only for photos), coz I have sensitive skin. So I don't think I want to spend money going to the more expensive counters.
I can usually find the right shade, but the problem is making the foundation last more than 3 hours. I don't have oily skin, but it tends to disappear very quickly, which is more than frustrating. :(
I use a stick concealer as a foundation and it's too cakey for me and I want something lighter, any suggestions??????
I always test them on my jawline
it took me 5 years to find the perfect foundation(s) for my skin
my advice is to get tons of samples from a variety of brands...that's how I found the right one for me.
the sales people may act all stingy and hesitant to give you samples..but hey, I'm not going to spend money on a whole bottle of foundation that won't work for my skin!
is liquid or powder cake foundation more suitable for oily skin?
