I've had this purple tunic tee from Zara for months just sitting in my closet. I originally bought it because of the color, but decided later on that it was too plain and looked a bit boring.
Just when I was about to give it up for the "toss" pile, I remembered Teen Vogue's November issue of last year. Inside the magazine, they mentioned that they DIY-ed American Apparel tops and embellished it with studs. It looked fabulous and I decided to do it with my plain Zara tee!
Here's what I came up with:
I used punch-in studs in different sizes and shapes; it's really easy to apply!
Just puncture it in the top and press in the spiked fasteners to hold the studs in place.
It is also important to use studs made from stainless steel so they don't rust and ruin your fabric.
The final result:
Are you also into studded embellishments and its rock chic appeal? Would you give this experiment a try?

I think that's pretty cute! I like DIY projects but I'm not very fond of having studs on my clothes. Not my kind of thing. But...you just gave me an idea for a present ^__^ Thanks!
That's really great idea, studs look awesome on clothes, very rockish ;D
That looks awesome! ^^
Your shirt needs ironing lol.
Btw, where could I purchase these studs? :) I love the idea.
hey thanks for subscribing...
I would definitely try that. I'm thinking of doing it today.. :) Teen Vogue has so many good DIY ideas.
Thanks for sharing this fantastic idea! The result was awesome!
Studs/rhinestones aren't really my style, but that's great that you redesigned something to make it new.
Cute!
love it!
Great idea! I love the uneven distribution!
Sweeeeeeeeeet. I don't think I could pull it off. x]
i like the studs....but the asymmetricalness is sooooo not working!! ahh!!
You know, it looks like the 80s/early 90s are coming back into style. I can see it working, but I actually do NOT like the style from that time period at all. Sure, we revamp it, but that time period is coming back. Meh.
where do you get these studs?
cute, I've been looking up a lot of DIY ideas for plain t-shirts...I have so many that I want to make into something new!
Cool idea, where do you buy the studs?
i totally was gonna do this for my other shirt, but i can't find a place to buy studs!! know where i can get them online for cheap? or somehwere in toronto?
This is great! I was a bit hesitant when I read the title, but the shirt turned out really really cute!
that's pretty cool.
thats awesome!! i'm so jealous i always have these great DIY ideas and never do them. Where did u get the studs?
Hey guys! Wow, glad you liked my little project :)
I got the studs from a dollar store (I know! I could hardly believe it myself!). It took me such a long time looking for the square ones, and when I did I just grabbed a bunch and went crazy studding my stuff.
You could also try crafts stores or stores that supply sewing essentials. they're sure to have studs in different sizes and shapes!
VERY cool!
i always ordered studs from angryyoungandpoor.com..... not sure how many people from this site go to that site.. but they're good price. :)
that looks nice and easy to do.
