  • Color Contacts: What's Your Opinion?

Many people with glasses may decide to wear contacts.  Recently, even some people with perfect eyesight choose to wear colored contacts, or those contacts that make your eyes look bigger.

I haven't worn them before, and usually wear just plain, prescribed contacts (nothing special on them).  However, I am considering wearing them.

Have any of you ever worn or heard about colored contacts? If so, what do you know? Should I try them?

I have perfect eyesight and I have only started wearing coloured ones (still struggling badly with the application). I thought they make a difference but I won't wear them on an everyday basis, and I especially love the grey/brown ones which I thought go better with asian features.

I've heard that if you're used to contacts, they're not bad. Only thing is they're pricey (from what I've heard). I've been wanting to get some for a looooooooong time, but my vision is 20/15, so I don't know if I should.

I wear regular contacts..  I've always wanted to try colored ones for fun.

They can look good if not too wild.  I don't like that you have to get a prescription to get them, though.

I think they really can add some extra "umph" to a person's face. I'm so glad I have green eyes, I don't really need color contacts. But it would be fun to try on different colors like blue, gray, and chestnut. =) I think they look good, however when people wear contacts that aren't really "natural" or wouldn't fit them (like a really dark skinned person wearing blue contacts) I find it to be a bit unattractive.

OMGGGGG DO IT!!! wat are u waiting for?!?!?!???!

I've been wearing them since 1999?? LOL AND I NEVER REGRET ONE DAY!!!

I personally LOVE freshlooks COLORBLENDS... those give u a natural look.. but I myself just recently tried their regular colors and THE TRUE SAPPHIRE is NOW MY FAV!!!!

and well dont take our word for it... if you go to any eye doctor who supplies contacts u can always ask them for trials/try ons

Don't worry I was in ur position back then.. until I realized they let u try on different colors to see which one u like the best... but remember not all colors look great on a person.. so either way if u WERE planning on gettin them... i suggest still tryin them on first to see if the color suits u :)

OH and yeah if i HAD perfect eyesight -- i probably wouldnt wear anything... remember dont use/wear anything that isnt necessary!!! ure already beautiful the way u are!!!!! only reason why i chose to get colored contacts is cuz well I had to get contacts anyways... it just happens so that it gave me the extra incentive

don't get me wrong tho.. I still have clear contacts too :)

ALSO: yes they can be pricey howeverrrrrr theres usually rebate sales at the eyedoctor -- I just received my rebate in the mail the other day :P ... BUT if theres no sale.. just go to 1800 contacts - UBER CHEAP!

My friend wears colored contacts that make her eyes look smokey green-ish, gray-ish, blue.  It's really pretty, but it really depends on the type of person you are.  Personally, I wouldn't wear them because I know whatever color I choose wouldn't be my true eye color (duh), and it'd be weird to one day switch back to regular contacts and have people realize my eye color is pretty dull, after all.  Haha.

Hm. Well, I wear the "enhancer" green colored contacts every day. I already have green eyes, so they just make my eyes a little more noticeable. They cost $5 more than clear contacts (with my awesome insurance), so why not?

Like has been mentioned, you can go in and try on several samples for free. If you pick the color that you like and order it, they will often let you keep one trial pair (You can keep all the ones you try on, but usually they only give you one!)

But if you don't need the vision correction already, I wouldn't bother.

ooolala I've been curious about colour contacts but I'm not very comfortable with poking something in my eye. I guess it just takes practice?

  • irresistible_shimmer@xanga

A friend at work has contacts that enhance your natural eye color. They worked really wonderfully.

  • ELIZerson@xanga

Honestly, I don't see the point if you have great eyesight.

I like my glasses more than my contacts, mainly because I personally think that I look better with glasses (some people disagree). That said,I wore colored contacts for Halloween two years ago. The effect wasn't as drastic as I had hoped, but it should have been expected -- I have dark brown eyes, and most colored contacts don't show up too well on dark eyes.

I can understand getting them if you actually need contacts/glasses, but I don't really understand people who get them even if they don't need glasses. I guess that's because I never understood/cannot relate to people who do things like that solely for the looks? (Though I do admit that some people do it for reasons other than looks -- looks was just the first reason that popped into my head.)

I used to wear colored contacts (Rx) and I miss them. You should try them; they're fun. Mine were honey-colored, and I didn't even feel the need to bother with eye makeup. :)

  • Sorrows_xx_Soliloquy@xanga

I love colored contacts(: The last time I purchased contacts I bought dark blue, violet, and green contacts.  It's fun to change your eye color around (even a different color in each eye, haha)

    p.s.- I wear prescription contacts.

  • MYLx@xanga

ive tried brown, green, blue and purple before!
green is so far my fav :)

  • Sorrows_xx_Soliloquy@xanga

@AMYxJADE@xanga - I love the true sapphire color, too!  That was the first color I tried of colored contacts and I fell in love. ^_^

  • ambercucumber@xanga

I've worn colored, and it all really depends on which colors suit you.

I'm an Indian chick, so blues and greens don't work for me. I did Freshlook Coloblend in gray and LOVED them.

Colored contacts are kind of pricey though.
Again, it really comes down to which colors suit your face. I like the natural colors.. as in, not Amethyst contacts, or such.

Go for it, see what you like. :]

In the words of one of my good friends, "way to make even the WINDOWS to your soul fake".

  • keyboarderrr@xanga

i haven't tried them, but i want to. most asians have brown eyes and i hate it.

  • ClassyCori@xanga

I've worn a lot of different ones (gray, blue, green, freshlook, acuvue, etc.).  I think enhancers look better, personally.  Currently I wear freshlook radiance in autumn.  I have hazel eyes, and these have gold flecks on them to make my eyes POP in light.  They look nice and natural.  Be careful and try them on in the office to make sure you don't get that ring of natural eye color showing through and the right size.  I wear mine with prescription, and they are decent in price comparison.

  • Random_Goldfish@xanga

I get accused of wearing coloured contacts all the time...and I don't...I've never even worn clear contacts.

My eyes are the colour of grass.

  • chPanda@xanga

It depends, some people can pull off another color, but there are some that should stick to their natural color.  My cousin wears colored contacts and she looks kind of weird in them.

  • fairyfloss2004@xanga

@listen_to_The_Pixies@xanga - your friend is a fountain of wisdom.

they do make you look like you're blind and your eyes are stick-ons.
