Liquid Eye-liner Better Than Pencil?
I love how liquid eye-liner looks in contrast to pencil. You can achieve a clean, fresh, and sophisticated look with the use of this genre of eye-liner. But I have a predicament.
I have been wearing makeup for about two years now, and I have still not mastered the art of applying liquid eye-liner. Either I do not choose the right kind or something else. I have a good steady hand, but here are the problems I run into when applying liquid eye-liner:
- It runs... gross, eh?
- It flakes off during the day
- When applying, I do not get enough on the applicator: I get an uneven line
- It smears, probably because it is not thick enough
Help! What brand of liquid eye-liner would you suggest? Do you do anything special before applying it?

i think i just depends on what look your trying to achieve while doing your make-up
Apply it once, a thin line above your eyelash. Don't make it too thick for it to be able to crease. Put on eye base / primer before applying it. After applying it, wait for it to dry completely, so that it won't smear.
Other than that... I don't really mind the company/brand. They all work for me.
Liquid eyeliners are such a pain. I use this Mac eyeliner called fluidline. It is just like a liquid eyeliner except it is a gel. It goes on smooth with a special brush from mac (can't think of the name right now) the eyeliner goes for 15 bucks. It is very worth it. Plus it is water proof, it works wonders

Also I go to youtube and look up how to apply eyeliner, I found some really awesome tips on how to apply makeup.
I like the initial look of the liquid liner, but the pencil liners are much easier to use, especially since I'm always in a flurry to get ready
i just put it on top.
You should look for a gel eyeliner and special brushes used for gel eyeliners. A lot of people recommend Bobbi Brown's gel formula and go for tiny, thin and stiff brushes for precise and smooth application.
I don't like liquid eyeliner either.
i love liquid eyeliner, only on the top though. Pencil sometime times hurts my eye, like in the motion of me applying it, compared to using liquid it is just one motion.
@two_days_until_forever - Maybelline has great gel eye liner, its apart of their HIP collection. One day CVS had a sale buy any mabelline product get one free, so I got one in deep purple. I love it!
@Seen_More_Spine_in_Jellyfish@xanga - Maybelline has a HIP collection? Isn't that L'Oreal?
@two_days_until_forever - You are right it is Loreal, sorry ha. I dont know why i was thinking maybelline. But anywho you are correct!
@Seen_More_Spine_in_Jellyfish@xanga - That's fine! I wasn't meaning to correct you, but I didn't want your answer to confuse the girl who you were recommending the product to! :)
i use maybelline liquid eyeliner. i'm no exactly sure what it's called (if there's even a specific name) but it's in a black tube with a gold tube-like cap. it works pretty well for me.
The Maybelline eyeliner with the FELT TIP is AMAZING. I have really oily eyelids, but this stuff stays on for at least 5 hours before even beginning to rub off. It's friggin sweet.
I use a black waterproof liquid eyeliner from Lancome. It works wonders because the applicator brush is packed with the liner liquid (plus, it doesn't run). Once you apply it, it doesn't budge or flake at all. It stays on your eyes all day. It is infallible :).
I don't know if you wanna buy it though 'cuz it's around $30. Really, really expensive ><. I think it's worth it though because I've been using it for a while now. If you wanna save money and buy something cheaper, drug store brands like Maybelline works well too.
When you're applying, one tip is to apply it in small little strokes instead of trying to do it all in one stroke. It's easier than trying to get it all straight and nice with one big sweep.
I can't recommend any brands. But I hope that helps.
Hey I have been always using a liquid eye-liner instead of a pencil, simply because I am lazy in sharpening it. I am using a Japanese brand "ettusias", a sub-brand of shiseido. That is pretty good, no smear, no chipping.
I have used Lancome before as well, I found it pretty easy as a first time user, but it came off during the day.
Just make sure you dip enough liquid before apply on each eye, then you should get enough for one eye. Bring your liquid eye-liner out during the day to re-do it. Bring some cotton swabs with you, it helps !!!
I love liquid eyeliner, and I've never actually had much of a problem applying it, even when I first started using it. Brands don't really matter to me, either.
Also, I personally think that liquid liner is a lot easier to remove than pencil liner, even when it's waterproof. At the same time, it doesn't smudge or anything the way pencil liner does (at least for me, anyway).
What I usualy do is use a brush... I put the liquid on my palm then on a brush (a smudge brush) and apply it works wonders!
never used liquid eyeliner. when i think "liquid" eyeliner i think runny or water(y).
Hahaha this is very timely. Last night, I was trying to fix myself up for the video blog I was gonna post.. I couldn't find my eye pencil... And I was quite annoyed. Maybe i should buy a liquid eyeliner next time...
i love liquid eye liner! i use the Sephora brand, black of course. What I do, is I dip it like... twice, then wipe only on one side so it doesnt gloop everywhere. lol. when i apply it, i start at the middle of the lid, and line it to the end of the lid. i redip, and rewipe it (xD) then start closer to my tear duct, and reline it all. then i redip again, and line to and past my duct. What I find that helps is that when there isnt enough on the applicator, is to run it on the lash line anyway, then redip and try again. MOst of the time when it smears, its still wet. Also, try to update your eyeliner every 6 months. Don't wait till it runs out.
I really hope this helps! =D
cliniques gel eyeliner is fabulous!
revlon colorstay.
i prefer gel liners. they rock , don't run or smudge and some brands are rub -proof too
