By Denise@LovelyishIf filling out a degree card and receiving multiple emails from the Dean's office weren't enough of a reminder that graduation's just around the corner, the yearbook staff contacted my class asking that we register for next week's senior portraits.
I'm pretty sure these portraits will be in color and that we'll have one with the cap and gown and another without them. Over the past couple of days, I've been thinking about whether or not I should go back to my natural hair color, which is black/very dark brown. While my current hair color, medium reddish brown, isn't wild by any means, I'm afraid that as a full-blooded Asian girl, it looks a little too unnatural for a portrait.
Here are a couple pictures for comparison:
On the one hand, I want to dye it because I don't want to flip through the yearbook when I'm 40 and think, "Eww, what was I thinking?!" That is, I'm pretty sure I'll outgrow this color and will regret keeping it for a formal picture. On the other hand, I just dyed my hair about a month ago and I'm not ready to go back to black for my everyday look. The drab, wintery weather makes me want to have a more interesting-looking hair color.
Plus, a senior portrait of myself with this hair color might remind 40 year-old me of how I was in the "days of my youth." I imagine that come adulthood, I'll be so vanilla that seeing my red hair will provide an amusing blast from the past.
What would you do?

If I was faced with the situation, I would just dye my hair purple.
Haha.
But hmm, in your case, I kind of like your hair darker, but in the end, it's really up to what color you prefer.
i like your hair darker. speaking of which, after dying my hair lighter for years, i stopped. i prefer my natural color now, which is dark brown. it's a lot cheaper. and if you want more body by way of dying your hair, you can do it less frequently. and you wouldn't have to worry about roots. besides, asian skin looks best in darker hair color. you can always have fun with tintng it purple or blue or red or dark pink. :D
natural is always good =]
btw, you are very pretty :)
i, too, like your hair darker. the contrast between your hair and skin makes you look more interesting to me.
i would go back to my natural hair color for my portrait, but actually, i wouldn't dye my hair anyway. so i guess it's a moot point? but i kind of liken your situation to a guy i know who always had a mustache, but shaved it off for his wedding. now he looks at his wedding pictures and he can't remember why in the world he made himself look different than his 'normal look' in pictures that he would look at for the rest of his life.
I'd say you look much better in the natural colour. It's more sophisticated, I guess.
p.s. i don't know if you were thinking of changing style too, but i like the style that you have now, with the darker hair color!
if you wanted, instead of going back to your natural color, you could just switch to a deeper shade of your current color. It would look more sophisticated, but still be a change from the natural color.
But if you don't feel like going back so soon, just use a semi permanent hair Color for the picture, and then itlll wash out a few washes later so you won't have to change it completely (:
I like the reddish brown on you. I think it works with your skin tone. And honestly, when you're forty and looking back on your life, your hair color at this age is probably gonna be the least of your concerns, you know what I mean? It's not a big deal :) So if you like your hair now, keep it!
You should go for your natural hair color all of the time!
I think your hair looks better darker, but ultimately it's your decision.
I'd say the natural color looks better, and you may prefer it for your picture when you're looking back. Who knows... It's your call, but I'd say go darker for it. I like the idea someone mentioned above of using semi-permanent dye to change it darker for the picture, so you won't be stuck with the darker color for too long after the picture's taken.
I would keep it. It shows what you were like and looked like in that time of your life. I currently have really dark hair, and am naturally a blonde. I like my dark hair alot and am not ready to go back.
I think your hair looks nicer darker (it seems shinier for some reason) but it looks nice reddish brown too. Meet in the middle and go dark brown?
i like your current hair color. i think it fits you, and it looks really good.
you look pretty either way!
I think they both look great. Only thing I can say is that the natural color seems to work better with your skin tone. But, again, they both look good and the reddish brown is really cute on you.
keep it =]
it'll bring back some memories and you'll see who you were senior year. besides, when you're 40, im sure you'll look at the picture it criticize it in some way or another anyway :P we all do that with pictures.
i think natural is the way to go ,
you look great with the darker hair !
Your natural hair is beautiful!
