Wearing Leggings... And Nothing Else?

It seems to be a growing trend. This trend I speak of is leggings.
Wearing leggings is a great way to show off your body without showing too much skin. Best of all, they're pretty cute. What I've noticed, though, is that girls are consistently forgetting to put something over them.
Every so often, I see a girl in leggings, without anything else covering them. No shorts. No skirt. No dress. Not even a long shirt.
They wear leggings with a hip-lengthed shirt with it all hanging out. I find this to be completely tacky. It looks like you either are going to go workout sometime in the near future, or that you forgot to finish dressing.
I mean, we wouldn't wear hose or tights alone.
Why do leggings make the cut? Is it really fashionable to just wear leggings, or is it just tacky? Do you wear anything to cover your behind area?

I think because leggings are so much thicker than tights they see them as stretch pants.
But personally I hate seeing people wear them without anything over them and I would never do that myself because I think it just looks odd and you can see everythingggg.

Oh, I would wear them to work out or at dance, but out in PUBLIC like that? No way. That's borderline slutty if you ask me. Cover your butt!!!
well, even though we're having a heat wave here (16 degrees ABOVE zero!) I'm just not sure i'm reading to go topless quite yet. ;D
it kind of depends how thick the leggings are. i've seen some leggings that are practically see-through and others are more like respectable pants.
Funny, I'm currently wearing leggings and I put on a long tank top and a slightly shorter shirt over that. It pretty much covers my bum so I don't see a problem with it. I think wearing a shirt that doesn't cover your bum is a bit tacky.

If you're wearing a shirt that is long but sort of kind of shows the bottom of your butt, that's sometimes okay if you accessorize it right. Otherwise it just looks dumb.
i agree. DON'T DO IT. unless you have a REALLY nice butt/legs or you're a model or something similar, it is unacceptable. i see people wearing just leggings who are (i'm sorry) overweight and i just wonder to myself what the heck they were thinking that morning... at LEAST wear a long shirt. please. haha
Yeah, I think it's super weird to wear leggings with nothing to cover them. Although I do wear leggings as yoga pants... but in the comfort of my own living room with no one watching. XD
But it's really weird to wear them with nothing else. They're way too tight for that. It's gross.
it's gross and i would never follow that "trend". please wear at LEAST a long shirt to cover up. it's not flattering at all.

Unless they're exercising. That's the only exception I make, and even then, I'd rather them wear a pair of shorts over it...
oh no no NO!! you should ALWAYS wear something that at least covers your behind, like a long shirt or dress. showing buttcheeks in public is NOT cute. at all.

Tacky, at best. Leggings seem to be an enduring trend, but I'm old enough to remember when stirrup pants were huge the first time, so I've been a little leery of jumping on the bandwagon this time around.

haha! i've seen it quite a few times & it was really disturbing.
it definitely looked as if they didn't finish getting dressed.so i say it's definitely a no no.
I always have to wear a long shirt with my leggings or else I get self-conscious.

yes..i'd say - wear a long shirt/dress over your leggings..i don't lik eit..but osme people DO manage to pull it off.

I don't enjoy seeing every outline/detail. I saw a girl the other day wear some with a short shirt.. her ass was hanging out. It just doesn't look good. :/

No, do not do it! I cringe when I see girls in only leggings. You either need something to cover your bum or wear real pants. Leggings are not enough alone.Â
I HATE leggings. Mainly because they remind me of when I was 7 and I'm not sure how they'd look on my legs. But anyway. Totally agree on the not wearing anything over them thing. There was this really classy woman at the shop the other day, long boots, leather jacket, etc. And I did a double take because she looked ridiculous without anything other the leggings! It's OK to wear dresses or skirts which are slightly shorted than normal with leggings, but you have to wear something. And since when has that look been sexy? It's just like the top of tights, they are not attractive at all. They make you arse look massive and I don't even wanna think about how awful the front is...
Fat girls in leggings takes it to another level.
