Erica@Lovelyish You're probably thinking to yourselves, "Why on earth is Erica using a picture of a thumb tack to illustrate a post about eyelashes?"
Well, what you're looking at is the only way that I can separate my eye lashes before and after mascara. It may take awhile and sure people stare at me like I'm about to gauge my eyes out when I start my beauty regime every day, but hey; it works! A girl has to do what she has to do, and I am obsessed with how my eyes look.
Fortunately, my eyes can stop weeping every time that sharp nail-like stick comes near them because I've now obtained something I wish I had a long time ago.
I have found this little guy,
Perfect Lash Comb!
I looked at this product with much doubt in my head. I've got a list of combs I have tried to use for my eyelashes that never worked, so I broke out my pen to add this to it but quickly put it back. I threw out my thumbtacks. This one actually works!
The combs have always worked fine before mascara but the big issue for me was how well it brushed and separated my lashes after I used the mascara, to rid of any chunks. This comb glided through my mascara without causing pieces to break off and without my eyelashes losing the curl and thickness my eye-lash curler and mascara gave 'em.
You can pick up this product (that's much safer for your face than anything you could buy at OfficeMax) at their site
PerfectLash.com for $15.
What do you use for a lash comb? Do you even bother with one? What's something funny/unusual you've done to achieve a certain look?

ohh, i used to use a pen lol
i use that now ;)
using a thumb tack to comb your lashes is the most horrific thing i've ever heard of. thank god you found that product; it looks very effective, but i'm not one to separate my lashes after mascara'ing them.
I never used a comb, except for that time that I was flipping through mommy's make up bag and wondering what it was.
There are mascara that come with a comb, I've used that end when I wanted to lengthen them more.
I remember using safety pins in highschool to comb out my lashes.
This looks way safer and more effective! Thanks for the info!
I just use a regular old eyelash comb I got at the drugstore. Nothing fancy; I have to clean it every once in a while though, but other than that it's perfectly fine.
I do have an eyelash comb, but I don't bother with it. Here are a few things I do, and they're fairly subconscious/effort free. (OK, #1 gets expensive, but mascara doesn't dry out TOO quick, if you don't pump the wand!)
1. I keep updating my mascara bottle regularly: if the mascara begins to dry out, it'll get lumpier. Your lashes will end up looking like...well... you know.
2. I wipe the brush off on the edges of the bottle, taking off as much as I can. The up side to this is that there's more mascara near the top of the bottle now, so I don't have to pump the wand to get "more mascara on it".
3. I apply 2 or 3 layers of mascara, leaving each THIN layer to dry.
Generally, this gives me a fairly nice lash-definition, without worrying about thumbtacks or eyelash combs!!
i don't have problems with clumpiness.
Hmm may have to look into getting one of those. I think the most important thing is what the_hidden_angel said...update your bottle regularly. I just bought a new mascara, and it looks so much better than the old one
Ha ha ha.... can I be honest? I was never quite sure what those little combs were for.... eyelashes? eyebrows? stray hairs?
nice!!
i dont need an eyelash comb anymore since i stick to falsies 24/7
oh my god that was scary!!
im still scared of the eyelash curler :S haha xD i cant even imagine a safety pin or a thumbtack
I used safety pin!!
Buy better mascara.
Dior is the way to go (;
clean old mascara wand, use that to comb out the clumps.
i atually use a toothpick every day. it works great.
I've used combs too, and they work fine for me.
$15? That's pretty expensive. I'm going to try to find a brand that sells a similar eyelash comb for less.
How about buying mascara that DOESN'T clump in the first place? I highly recommend Maybelline Lash Stylist in waterproof. It holds curls well, it doesn't clump, and it lengthens your eyelashes.
But anyway, thanks for introducing this comb!!
haha.
In Charlie Wilson's War, Julia Roberts uses a safety pin, which is even more scary...
lead pencils and safety pins work better than thumbtacks, it's slightly thinner....
i use a regular eyelash brush and wiggle it back and forth as i go up (kinda like how i put on mascara...) and sometimes i use the brow side and brush it across the lashes a little... :]
Haha wow.. this reminds me of the time I met these girls who used a spoon to curl their eyelashes. But I'm glad you found your new weapon of beauty :)
Not for eyelashes, but my sister often steals this stick with a flat, curved end on it (supposed to be for cleaning your ears) to make her double eyelids even.
Sonia Kashuk has a nice metal lash comb (metal is important!!) sold at Target for less than $15.
oohhh i want one of these >: )
i use a toothbrush. a really cheap one that i bought specfically for the purpose. works wonderfully.
I use Lash Blast from CoverGirl, you can't miss it at your local drugstore because it's bright orange!
