The Solution For Nail Biting: Nail Art!
I am a girl again!
You see, I am a lifelong habitual nail biter. When I was a small child, I learned to bite my nails when I got nervous, and it became a compulsive thing for me that was hard to stop -- almost like smoking. I guess it is a kind of OCD. I barely noticed I was doing it, but I did however notice that my nails always looked horrible.
I have had long nails twice in my life and it only lasted a month. Recently, I have taken control of my knee-jerk reactions yet again, and they have been growing for a month. Now they are HUGE and I am keeping them this way.
I have a new appreciation for nail polish now. The photos of nails are NOT me, but an example of nail art. Run a search on Google... it's fun stuff. Well, it is if you have nails, and you're a girl who enjoys makeup.

To you women and girls who are biting your nails, do yourself a favor and stop. I know it's hard because it's compulsive, but it can be controlled if you really pay attention to what you're doing. It feels nice to have long nails. It's really fun to have them painted and to express yourself. If you have nails like the ones in the picture above, you've got to be hot. So take my lead and take your fingers out of your mouths and feel more like a girl.
Letting my nails grow long has been the best Christmas present I could have given myself.
Do you have long nails? Would you ever consider growing yours out and appreciating nail art?

there's this funky nail polish thing for kids who bite their nails. it's really bitter, so they get pretty put off. i think it would work better than nail art. xD
My nails have always been coated in varnish, one way or another, for years... I only bite them on the rare occasion when the nail splits, and I don't have a file handy. (:
I love my nails. It's become my fashion trademark to have bold and interesting designs on them. People worry if they see me without any varnish on, lol.
I've never been a nail biter, but that nail art is soooo cool! ^^ I love it! Lol, but I don't use nail polish ever....hmmmm, maybe I'll start again some day. ^_^"
Great advice though for fashionable nail biters. I mean, one look will just stop you!
I've always grown mine out long and either just kept them clean with a clear shiny coat or if it was something special, I would french tip them myself. It just looks nice and elegant. If you can grow yours out, I would.
i've been biting since i was 5 and can't quit =( tried so many times, always failed. nail art wouldn't work for me in the workplace cuz my firm is quite conservative/formal.
I suppose you could do that...I stopped chewing on mine when I learned about the salmonella and other bacteria that grow underneath your nails and you ingest when biting them...
I've gotten fake acrylic nails done about three or four times in the past. I ride a motorcycle and need my nails to be short so I can wear gloves, so I don't think I'll be getting fake nails any time soon. And I choose not to grow out my nails. I have really sensitive skin and having long nails only promotes the sensitivity (i.e. when I get itchy).Lucky for me, I don't bite my nails.
I enjoyed nail arts too, LOVE them.
However, I only do easy ones. I'll indulge myself in nail arts in holidays. But I always have to rub it off when school starts sigh.
@Mitsuye@xanga - I'm the same way with my nails. I can't have them long, or else I'll itch (which hurts like the Dickens when your skin is upset).
Plus, I like the look of short nails, personally. With some dark polish and a trimmed edge, it's pretty cute and low maintenance.
But then again, I've always been afraid of long nails anyway.
I've been biting my nails since I can remember, I can't seem to stop, even when I had the fake nails I chewed and split them, sometimes breaking them off completely. I hope this habit does change it is pretty gross.
I used to bite my nails when I was younger. I forgot how I learned to stop biting them, though. I think I'd put my hands underneath my thighs every time I saw down so I didn't bite them.
I love nail art! I don't like anything that's too exaggerated, though. For example, the Japanese ladies like to put on jewels, charms, and little dolls on their nails. I could never do that! Too much. But simple designs like the pictures above are cute. I usually just put on nail stickers and nail polish.
i dont bite them, but im always the friend who has to say "STOP BITING YOUR NAILS!"
i use to bite my nails until one day my teacher showed a clip of Tape Worms and how it effects you later on if you keep biting your nails. I was tottalyy discusted by it and ever since my nail have grown to be nice and long . So if you bite your nails take a look at the damages it can cause.
my problem would be that since i've been biting my nails since i was 6, my nail beds look really horrid, so that when my nails are long, the white part is really long. so they pull up or break, or look funky.
but i'm gonna do it anyway. :]
i've been biting my nails ever since i was born, basically. very hard to stop. i've tried to stop a few times but it only lasted a few weeks, at most. i want to stop biting them though. painting them nice does help, so thats what i've been doing. but then when the nailpolish chips i get crazy then bite them again cause my nails aren't looking perfect. hah. but yeah, at least i am attempting to stop biting my nails =)
lol I've stopped bitting my nails when I cant bite it anymore
I like hanging long nails so I can paint them
Nail Arts are nice - but they're quite pricey for a set thats fully done
I saw a set of nails for 45
i was so happy to finally grow mine out. stopping nail biting is not easy, but so rewarding!
I never had that habit of biting my nails, thank god. I don't find it attractive if a guy bites his nails. I try to let my nails grow, but they tend to break on their own. I do paint them, just don't do anything "artistic" with it.
never been a nail biter....but i cant get my nails done anymore cuz of nursing school =(
Aw yay! This post made me happy. I LOVE long nails especially with designs. Definitely my cup of tea :)
@No_LeafClover@xanga - really? never heard of it, what's it called? lol
how do i get my nails to grow past the nail bed in the first place? im an extreme nail bitter -- they dont even grow paast the nail bed.
i've only had long nails for one month in my entire 20 years. its so bad, i actually chew my nails almost daily.
I used to bite and I realized when I would put nail polish on I got out of that habit. I don't bite my nails anymore. I dont put any designs on them since I dont have the money to go to a nail salon and I can't do designs. If anyone has any tips for doing your own nail designs I would love to know.
the christmas nails are so cute! :3
i wish i would've seen that picture before christmas LOL
i've never had a problem w/ biting my nails...but i always chew a lot of gum, so that might be why!
this doesnt work for my nail bitter friends though.. they still bite them even they are fake..!
