Erica@LovelyishThis past weekend I attended an "Ugly Christmas Sweater party." At this party, if you weren't wearing the most hideous
Bill Cosby-looking sweater when you walked through the door, you were immediately escorted out.
It was funny to see everyone pile in wearing entertaining sweaters (someone's sweater even glowed), but at one point these sweaters were worn seriously by someone. We may laugh at them, but we all have that aunt, uncle, grandma or family friend that
does wear these sweaters to get into the festive mood.
Let's look at some of these gems, shall we?

Haha I like the blue one.
Never heard of a party like that before.
I've only seen older people wearing them.
The second one looks kinda cute. Never seen anyone wear these, though.
I worked at Ragstock for almost two years (midwest thrift store, well known in Minnesota and Chicago) We had an entire section of ugly holiday sweaters. I have a solid collection and lend them out every year. My favorite is a polar bears carrying presents and it says across the sweater "Bearing Gifts." It has a row of buttons on the top left shoulder that unbutton to show the shoulder. 80's style and holiday puns, can't beat that. Although I did lose that ugly sweater contest to a girl who had this pastel crocheted robe. I'm a little bitter, it was ugly but it wasn't holidays.
And very nice Love Actually photo. Colin Firth is a cutey.
We had "Ugly Christmas Sweater" day at school, haha.
Haha, this is my first time coming across these.
i would love to go to a party like that!! haha it would be fun.
i personally like the guy with the cat sweater... his face says it all.
The look on the guy's face in the fourth picture is priceless, haha.
@UnVolume@xanga - Agreed.
hahaha those are great pics. i love the idea of having a tacky Christmas sweater wearing party!
seeing guys in printed turtle necks make me sick. Never knew that till now. LOL
I think a party like that would be fun.
Haha aww, I love these! Ugly Christmas sweaters are the best.
No matter how ridiculous they look, it's all festive and fun. One of the few times every year you get to wear some scary lookin' stuff (:.
do people actually wear these when they go out to parties?
i've been to so many ugly sweater parties this season. it hasn't gotten old yet! i love the one with flamingos.
OMG. the second one with the snowman cracks me up!!
the 2nd one is not ugly at all!
In all honesty, how do you people keep your eggnog down at these things?
haha we had a yuletide christmas concert at school and a group of girls in choir agreed to all wear an ugly christmas sweater!
of course a couple of 'em bailed out but it was so much fun!
I LOVE THESE SWEATERS!
The one with the guy in the red sweater with the cats cracks me up! Crazy cat lady? No, no how about the creepy cat guy. ha ha.
But anyways I went to an ugly sweater contest last year with my brother and it was histarical- loved it, even tried to organize a day at work for one but it didn't pan out so well.
As far as knowing someone who actually wears them... where do you think me and my brother got our sweaters from? MOM and sister in law!
Oooer I like the reindeer one, the first one, I would wear that if someone gave it to me. I don't actually know anybody who wears christmas sweater, and havent been to a sweater party either, but i like the idea.
Haha! Great pictures. The first one and the red one on the guy with the wintery scene behind him... aren't bad! I'm not sure about all the feathery, fluffy, 3-D crap, though! Haa. Reminds me of sweatshirts my gradnmother would make me with bows and puffy paint when I was really young. Aw.
Actually, I just started working a Head Start (kindergarten-like education) and I noticed over the holidays that a lot of the teachers, regardless of age or anything, do wear these really festive sweaters and vest. The kids get a huuuuge kick out of them and actually tell them they should buy them with this or that on them.
Otherwise, I can't imagine wearing one of these. I didn't know there were actual parties revolving around these sweaters. That's a really fun idea, though! I guess they could be cute in a really dork sorta' way! Hehe.
my math teacher's an old lady and she has like 30 of them, shes been wearing them for the past two months!
like u said one of them "glowed", she has three that actually light up!
I have been looking to buy one incase I ever get invited to a ugly sweater party! ahha,
