Okay couples, I've had enough. I can't walk to my job every day without seeing at least nine of you. I'm not talking about just any couple; I'm talking about matching couples. From coats to sweaters, pants to shoes, couples in Manhattan can't get enough of looking like one another. I understand if you want to be the hot dog to your boyfriend's hamburger costume on Halloween, but every day wear? Not even Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears
pulled it off.
It's bad enough we have the trend of boys wearing the same pants as their girlfriends, but now we have girls deliberately matching their boyfriends. I don't understand why couples have to match. Isn't PDA enough? Did holding hands get too boring? Was that so 2007?
Yesterday I saw a young couple with matching coats, then an old couple with matching sweaters; all on the same
block!
Am I missing something? Is it cool to match your significant other? Is it something you or someone you know does?

I agree, the desire to be a "twinkie" is truly disturbing...
HAHAHA omg i knowww. matching couples are soo annoying. my parents hate it too. they've dressed alike by accident on numerous occasions and every single time they do, one goes up to change. its so funny.
It's almost as worse as matching twins... in their 30's.Â
i couldn`t agree more ... it`s just plain .. well, weird! haha.
"Dear Matching Couples, Please Stop" - Agreed!
Its so annoying and cheesy.
I think its the worst when the whole family is matching...i've seen it many times before.
Seriously!? Couples do that!?
Lame. Part of the attraction, for me, is that each of us has our own unique style that attracts the significant other.
Where does it go if we all start looking like each other's clones?
hahahaha. this really made me laugh...especially the picture attached. =)
Haha, I think it's cute to do once in a blue moon. I know it doesn't have to do with couples, but sometimes, my mum tried to make us match for family events.
haha I think its cute, but only when its not too over the top. for example, both wearing the color green, or if you both have the same swetshirt - I think that's okay once in awhile, but I think buying identical clothes is a bit creepy..
my boyfriend wouldn't do either with me anyway, so why am I even putting my two cents in?? haha
I don't think it's that big of a deal, really. If the couple like to match then so be it. Just as long as they don't get out hand with it.
i cannot stand matchey-matchey couples. actually, i can't stand matchey-matchey anything. i can't help but wonder if one partner doesn't feel a little embarassed to be out in public like that.
don't be bitter. if couples wanna dress accordingly, let them be cheesey- tis the nature of being coupley. it doesn't always have to be about individuality once you've found your other.
Even though inwardly I know it's still disgusting, when I read about the old people wearing matching sweaters I did a sort of mental "awww". With anyone else it's horrifying though.
Ridiculous! They look so funny. I mean get your own identity outside of the person your dating!
i don't get what the big deal is. why are people making a fuss when it's not even anyone's business but the couple's. (what? it isn't haha) it's cute every once in awhile. especially if it's not something super obnoxious..just something along the lines of matching colors
this entry is really bitter. if you honestly find it annoying enough to rant about, you're probably not in love but wish you were- and also hate that other people are
my fiance wears all "preppy" clothes, and i make my own.
but there's a few oldie couples that look adorable in matching clothes. i guess.
agreed, matching couples should stop. it's not cute, it's annoying. there was a couple at my school who matched EVERYDAY. it pissed me off so much.
my little sister's friend and her boyfriend ALWAYS matched when they went to school. i think its just plain weird. like, matching only happened when ur parents made u take studio pictures with your siblings when u were 5 and too young to feel that it was cheesy
but accidentally matching, like wearing the same color shirt (different style i hope) is kinda cute and funny...like great minds think alike kind of deal
I agree. Its creepy, save that shit for the twilight zone.
it's not that big of a deal.
i think it's kind of cute when couples match once in a while.it's just between the two of them, anyway ..ÂSometimes my family wear colour-coordinated clothes of different styles. But matching exactly would be over the border.
I think the old couple will look kinda cute. Old as in white-haired old. It's like they're still blissfully enjoying each other's company, no? However I can't stand young couples wearing matching clothes. It's like all of a sudden your own style disappears and you have to wear the same thing as your guy/girl, so why couples do that is beyond me.
We do it inadvertently sometimes.
If it's done inadvertently, it's cute. Old people expressing love in any non-publicly-carnal way is always awesome.
BUT
I mean, to each couple their own, but in general the matchey-matchey thing weirds me out. If its a heterosexual couple, chica, take back that ovary, and dude, your one remaining ball misses his buddy. If it's a same-sex couple--you look like twins. And that looks like incest. And that's just gross.
lol
Thats lame.
