By Denise@LovelyishFor the past six years, I've wholly devoted my feet to low-cut Chuck Taylors. Not only are they casual without being too sporty, but they're one of the few brands of sneakers that don't look awkward (that is, chunky) on my narrow size 8 feet and bony ankles. At one point, I had six pairs of Chucks that I wore regularly, but now I'm down to wearing only two (one army green, of course, and another dark blue) as spending time in a professional environment has rendered my rainbow-colored pairs un-wearable.
Somewhere, way in the back of my shoe closet, I have a red plaid pair, a checkered pink pair, a sunny yellow pair, and a Chinese embroidery-patterend pair. I mean, it goes without question that I shouldn't wear checkered pink Chucks in an office full of working adults, but I've grown so accustomed to dressing more professionally that I feel childish wearing my crazy Chucks at all. Plus, my closet's become considerably darker, slicker, and more urban since moving to New York City, so my old shoes just don't match my outfits anymore.
Still, I can't help but eye the rack of striped, swirled, and even sequined Chucks every time I walk into a Converse store (which is...often.)
Do you have any items of clothing that you love, but for whatever reason, can't wear anymore?

Who says you can't wear them?
They're great!
I have my own little collection of Chuck Taylors and most of them are hightops. Unfortunately because of my work I wasn't able to wear some of them because they're lime green, have the look that they are graffitied(sp?), or something weird/crazy like that. So I went out and bought a pair low-cut Chucks that were black and pin stripped with red and tan :) I love them and my managers haven't even noticed :)
These colorful shoes are kinda cute. :)
i been looking for a pink converse forever!!! in malaysia they dun have pink ones for adults!!!! =(
my brother and me love converse a lot... we use it with anything...=)
I used to really like wearing pants (and a skirt, even) with chains, convinced that I made them look good. And hey, maybe I did. But I work as a nanny for a very professional woman now and, I must admit, she's beginning to rub off on me. My casual clothes are beginning to look nicer and my poor, black clothing is in the back of the closet most of the time.
*sigh* I miss having blue in my hair.
TRENCH. COATS.
dude I wear my chucks alll the time <3 :)
I love everything that I wear all of the time! I guess the thing I miss the most are my hoodies. I recently moved to New Mexico. Its December 3rd and its still 70 degrees most days.
I love Chuck Taylors, I have around 6-9 pairs and am afraid of the day, like yours, where I can't wear them as often.
I like silly shirts, but I've grown old for them and wear them to bed now.
Tripp pants.
I have four pairs of chucks...one of them has the grateful dead dancing bears on them! haha...but I've had to give up my cutesy tshirts unfortunately...you know, the kind with like cookies and milk high-fiving and silly things like that. =[ I'm still always tempted to buy ones I see in stores.
the sequined ones are like $80+. i have kelly green high tops. theyre amazing.
@lovelaborcomplex@xanga - i have the "i love carbs" one with a food pyramid made of carbs. i have cookie ones too. thats what growing up will take away... sad times.
i can't buy chucks anymore. every time i buy a pair, i "ruin" them by coloring all the white areas with sharpies. i have a few that have themes (pacman, bubbles, mario, etc.), which come out pretty awesome.
otherwise, i always have on a pair of (fake) UGGs that i sharpied "fuck" on one side and "you" on the other :)
yes--all the clothes that got too tight when i gained the freshman 15. LOL...it helps that they look old anyways from washing them too many times
I had this English teacher that only ever wore her chucks on Fridays. And they were black. And she wore them with her jeans and another black shirt.
Every other day, she wore heels and was dressed ridiculously over the top for a high school, but still professional.
(She's a bit narcisstic.)
But I figure if SHE can wear chucks to work, then so can most people. I don't know how I'd feel about a neurosurgeon wearing chucks to an appointment or something... but yeah.
Also, my feet are wide or something? Because the part at the pinky always seems to get blistered when I wear them... and then that's the part that wears out the fastest. :( It's so unfortunate.
you never know...i have multiple pairs of skull patterned sneakers and at my old job as a researcher i got compliments on them LOL i just can't give up my skull sneakers...i even have custom made skull vans!
i love converse... so do my brother and sister. the three of us probably own more than 20 pairs =P
i have never got in trouble or problem wearing those to work though (i am a teacher). the only clothings that i love but can't wear are tank tops while i'm at work.
@garlicface@xanga - that happens to me too. and around the arch area as well.
@sweet_sianara@xanga - very much so... =/ i have all my old ones...i just wear them when i'm lounging around so at least i get to visit them every once in a while haha
haha.. many. Â out of date.
I used to wear fun, colorful socks.. stripes, bright, rainbow, candy, toe socks, etc.. but I grew out of it. I haven't opened that drawer in years :(
I love Chucks.. and I can still wear the three pairs I have... I fell in love with knee high boots but I can wear them now... because it's quite hot here.. ^^
i dont like chucks, it was comfy at first but then i got blisters :(
