Short Hair on Women = Ugly?

I got a hair cut recently. It does not touch my shoulders, but it's still long enough to style rather easily (it's a cross between a pixie cut and a bob). I've gotten a mix of reviews on my new look but I have to say that about 90% of comments were positive. To me, my hair looks much better than it had before. I found long hair (it used be around waist-length) to be oily and hard to maintain.
Now it looks healthy, shiny and flatters my facial shape more than my long hair did. My peers agreed; it was an improvement on my former look. I went from getting little attention from the opposite sex to even getting a little too much attention.
But the other 10%? Let's just say they were either rude or ridiculous. I was even told that I looked undignified and unwomanly. I've also been told I look like a boy and even just plain ugly.
Naturally, I was a little offended at these comments but brushed them aside. I felt much better with my new look and wasn't going to let anyone else's opinion offset that.
Do you think short hair on women isn't flattering? Would you ever cut your hair that short?

i have had my haircut very short as well
hahaha ooh man. i've had short hair since 7th grade (i'm a senior now) and because of it, everyone thinks i'm a lesbian. seriously, i break the mold a bit and what do i get? stupid questions like 'are you a lesbian?' or comments like 'when i first met you, i thought you were a lesbian.' it's just ridiculous. of course their are ugly short haircuts... but there are ugly long ones as well. SIGH
It depends on the person.
I did a few times in the past, but I just look better with lotsa hair, big hair in fact, lol, at least IN MY OPINION, rofl, :)
I don't do the short hair thing for another reason. I hate the "It looks cute" remarks you get. Cute makes one sound like a little girl,:)
Ah, my dad nearly had a heart attack when I finally cut my hair, back in April.
"You have no idea what beauty is. You don't look like a woman now!" But then again, he's Sri Lankan, and hair means a lot in Asian culture.
I agree though, I often feel boyish with my short hair... but sometimes I don't mind it. It's got more volume now, and it's a lot easier to live with. (:
That being said... I'm actually trying to grow it out again. -__-;;
LOL at least you've only been told you're ugly due to the short hair... i've been accused of being a lesbian quite a few times for no reason other then my short hair!!! my boyfriend thinks it's funny : P

GO YOU! Ugliness has nothing to do with the length of the hair, it has to do with the style of the hair and the level of confidence. I'm sure you look stunning. I got my hair cut short recently (now it's about the same as the cut in the bottom right hand corner of your photo) and I think it looks great on me. I feel cute and trendy and I love to try new things with it. Have fun with your hair & show it off!
short hair looks so nice on women... BUT you have to have the right face for it. my face is way too round and it def wouldnt work out.

It depends on the facial structure, like the first commenter said. Sometimes, short hair only looks good on some girls.
I have always had long hair but a while back I got my hair cut (pretty short) and I got all kinds compliments about how great my hair looked.
lol, I have a boyish cut too now and I've also been called a dike and lesbian. but whatever. I really ont care what people think of my hair. it'll just grow out eventually lol. I personally dont see anything wrong with short hair like that in the pix. I love it and IM NOT LESBIAN!! its just ignorant people wanting us to confort.
I had long hair and recently got an extreme cut by having really short hair. If I style it, it looks punker-ish. EVERYONE likes the hair but myself.
I don't feel too confident with short hair, I feel really manly. :/ I personally like my long hair than short. Oh well, it's quite an experience for me. :)
I think it really depends on the woman. I never thought I'd have shorter hair, but I've had it up above my shoulders (which is really short for me).
When I had long hair (maybe barely reaching my elbows), I didn't take care of it and ran around with it as a tangled mess.
After years of this, I got a bob cut and things totally changed. I started to dress more "corporate" and was better-manicured (not just finger nails) than before.
My hair's grown out since then, I'm getting kind of bummy again. But I do want long hair now cuz I think I'm mature enough to take care of it and I want to try putting it up (my hair's too thick to put up unless it's long)

Short hair screams stronger personality and it definitely isn`t a bad thing.
I'd say it depends on how you cut it compared to your face shape. What looks good on one person wont necessarily work for another.
I LOVE short hair on women. Sometimes it can look so good. That being said, people should be aware of what styles will compliment their features. Since I have a long face and sometimes flat hair (depending on how much I care what it looks like), I know that very short styles would either look very good, or absolutely terrible on me. I haven't yet had the courage to try (I'm currently sporting a chin-length reverse bob), but I'll give props to those who do.
I don't think I could ever pull off the short hair look. My hair is way too curly (although it's straightened in my current picture!) and I'd just look like I have an afro! I think it depends on your personality and face structure. Some women might be able to pull it off, but in general I just prefer longer hair.
While I absolutely love a headful of thick long hair, short hair can be incredibly... hot!

My sister always gets what I would consider a pixy cut. It is absolutely adorable on her, and it fits her so well.
It generally depends on the person, but I personally would never get my hair cut short because of the fact that longer hair accentuates my facial features much better.
It depends on the face structure and perhaps how the person carries the look. But I wouldn't say that it's ugly on women! A lot of people have their hairs that short, even celebrities! My hair 4 months ago was short too, it doesn't touch my shoulder and probably the same style as yours, and I got very good feedback regarding it. My friends told me they missed my long hair but liked my short hair better. I get compliments on my hair often and that makes me want to rip my hair off when someone says short hair on women are ugly. lol.
i bet your short cut looks amazing!!! i think it depends on the person's face structure, and another thing to keep in mind is that even though some people can make a short cut look OKAY, if those people look a million times better with long hair then it'd be in their best interest to keep it long...although OF COURSE if they're thrilled with their short cut, then yeah, go them! i'm not gonna lie; i think reallyreallyreally short hair can only be pulled off beautifully by a few people...but i bet you're one of those few; it must be great to get such positive attention :)
