This is why I love when Gossip Girl makes the characters attend atleast one formal dance every season. Last night was their Senior Winter Ball and were the gowns ever an eye candy.
Now don't stop reading, Gossip Girl haters. We're just recapping the dresses, not the episode (but for those who did watch - who wanted to kill CW for cutting off the episode at
such a juicy part?)!
Here are the few that caught my eye from last night:
Jenny's FrenemiesAlright, apart from the pink cupcake we have on the right hand side, I'm going to say these girls are lookin' good. I could wrap my head around the two dresses, especially the silver strapless one. But pink Cinderella has to go.
VanessaI loved Vanessa's dress too. I know I complained about all things glittery in my
AMA's post, but I think she pulled it off entirely well. Even when she had that mishap, courtesy of immature upper east side brats (I won't say what, for you GG viewers who have yet to see last night's episode), she looked good.
JennyI can't remember what she wore. All I can remember is her resembling a lump of coal for the last fifteen minutes of the show. Really, Jenny?
Blair and Chuck
If anyone questions why I am so in love with this man, I am going to direct their attention to this picture. A sparkling suit. Only you, Chuck Bass. He looked so amazing (read: badass) in this suit last night, he could have been the only character on. I also loved how well Blair's dress fit to her body and the contour dark fabric on the bust. This is what I would've worn.
SerenaI loved her dress until she turned towards the screen and I saw the front had a huge chunk missing. I don't understand this at all - what was the point? The dress was so pretty and she looked lovely but that ruined the entire thing for me.
Okay, so you know which ones I like and dislike. Which one of these dresses would you have worn to the winter ball? Which ones would you not even step out of the house in?

I loved Blairs Dress! I swear Blair and I are twins when it comes to style. I get a lot of my ideas from her and those gorgeous headbands.

blair's was gorgeous...the best fit, most flattering....serena's did not really compliment her hips or waist or figure really at all.
blair's is really cute. but i make my own dresses. i like the princess poof ones, with a fitted corset top. and bright colors. it all depends on your body type, hough.
I loved Blair's dress but not Vanessa's. And, Ed Westwick/Chuck Bass is sooooo dreamy! <33333

i knew as soon as i saw the title to your entry id have to comment it:] im so gossipgirl obsessed/in love with the show, that if i was a little less crazy about it i would be embarressed. lmao. first of, yes! my mouth dropped open when the show abruptly ended! not cool. i was so into this episode that when dan and serena began gazing into one anothers eyes, remembering the time they "did it" and thinking about the other one doing it with their current date, i teared up. ok, that actually happens alot durring gossipgirl sadly. like when blair was going to lose her life long dream of going to yale -major water works there. i think its because i connect to the charecters so much (blair mostly). even if it is remotley lame.
i also noticed jenny looked (i like the way you put it) like a lump of coal. true dat. i would pick the dress out of the very first photo you posted to wear. no not the cupcake/cinderella gone insane one, not the strapless one, the other silver one. the dress i would die if i was wearing would be vanessas (you know why) ;] lmao. and uhm i think it might be snowflakes on chucks suit..not sparkles :// hehe. maybe. lol.

serena needed to cover up. it was a very classy dress with a very trashy twist. if there had been a bit more material covering her kiddies, she would have looked lovely and kept the boys guessingxD oh and i'm not liking that "one woman-man" boyfriend aaron of hers. he looks like a rat and need to leave the scarf wearing to chuck lol.(who looked hot as usual, blair as well)
vanessa's dress was amazing, well you know, except for the see-through part. but anyway, isn't that "in" these days? bearing all you have lol. i don't really like her and nate as a couple. i've always wanted him to end up with jenny, ever since episode one lol.
jenny....when is she going to change back into the jenny humphrey we all know and love? she needs to go back to school. its the only way to straighten her out.
and as for that cliffhanger...GRR! by the look of next weeks preview, bart has kicked the can. easy way out for lily, dont ya think?

haha i have to say... i watch gossip girl entirely for the fashion involved in it [i love taking tips! bluefly.com even has their own little gossip girl closet!] and "i'm chuck bass" moments.
Well, if you really like gowns, have you thought about learning ballroom dance, I mean Waltz, etc....?

i love the waist and the skirt of blair's the most. it'd be so much better if it wasn't so low cut... then it'd be perfect! i'll take it in deep red, please!
I would wear Vanessa's dress, but of course...with more! (watch the episode!). It's fun yet elegant. Vanessa looked gorgeous in it.
And I really like Blair's dress, although the style is a bit too "old" for me, it's perfect for Blair's character (prim, proper, and classy).
I would never wear Serena's dress in a million years. Although of course she is gorgeous and can pull anything off, I think there was little too much "off" in that dress!

i mean she may be the more outgoing, "fresh," hip, modern character (opposite of blair) but sheesh! try dressing the woman with more clothes! i mean she has a great bust and all but i've seen them wayyy too much in the shows ...

I probably wouldn't have worn any of these. I like black, red, and blue dresses... and if I could find one PERFECT, I would indeed wear a bright yellow Belle from Beauty & the Beast dress.
Actually my love of balls and wanting to attend a real, fancy one someday is one of my biggest quirks probably... It's one of the few fantasies I have for my life.
And... the guy in the sparkly suit... I just can't wrap my mind around that. How girlie.
