Guest blog submitted by CrissySomedays I love volume: waves, curls, frizzes. They're beautiful.
I haven't seen many people wear their natural hair anymore. Has anyone seen
ABC News investigation study over curly vs. straight? A woman had natural gorgeous curls and groups viewed her as being messy or a distraction. When people judged her as a person, straight hair had made her look cocky, so the curls won over!
Be comfortable with what you have. I love wild and straight hair.
Once upon a time, I even disliked my natural hair.
If you have curly or wavy hair, you can't easily get away with doing the same things as straight hair. I know it may seem gross but don't brush your hair. My hair is not a big dread, believe me. You don't want to brush it out because it becomes all frizzy like Hermione from the first movie... unless you're into that. Otherwise, it may scare people to grab their straighteners. Conditioner is my best friend. I detangle my hair with my fingers. I only blow dry when necessary (when I'm going out and I'm dripping water) and I use frizz serums.
If you want to cut your hair, please make sure you ask for a hairstylist that
specializes in curly hair. You don't want to cut your hair while it's wet. I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about!
The only way I
enhance my waves is by putting my hair up in a messy bun or doing lots of braids (french braids come out cuter!). I know some people "crunch" their hair but it never worked for me even with mousse. Conair has a small selection of soft curlers you can bend and wear comfortably to bed.

i love how people are commenting that because they're asian, they have super straight hair.
well...mine's the exact opposite. my hair used to be stick straight until i hit puberty, hahaha. not sure how that works, but now it's this huge, thick, wavy mess. i love it though; wouldn't have it any other way :). it used to be so damaged because i would try all these crazy things on it, but like my mother told me, i'd come to love it--which i do. though i may get a japanese perm when i go back to china, simply because it's a lot easier for me to concentrate when my hair's more tame.
i have straight hair. i love curling my hair with the straightener (it holds better than with a curling iron), but i usually don't have time. usually, i just shower, let it air dry, then tease with hairspray.
i have really straight hair. i curl my hair once because of my fren, she needed to pratice some bridal make-up.. i want to curl my hair.. but i think is rather hard to maintain..
my hair is kinda weird. the top layer is wavy and the bottom is pretty straight. in 6th and 7th grade i straightened my hair every single day. now that im in highschool it looks nice to have curly hair. so ive straightening it less and curling it more. i usually take a shower at nightt and my hair comes out good in the morningg after i straighten/curl it.
i had my hair permed for a couple years. i loved it. it's straight now but when it grows out i'm going for another perm.
I'd kill to have curls. Or a wave. SOMETHING! My hair is persistently straight, and body-less.
And not to toot my own horn, but I look good with curls. Damn you, bone structure!
@elusiivelove@xanga - I've been curious about perms. Did it at all damage your hair?
My natural hair is wavy and a bit frizzy. But I got a Japanese straight perm done at the beginning of this year. Now I think I look much better with straight hair than wavy because it makes me seem neater, lol.
i have extremely straight hair. no matter what i do to it it falls out in 10 minutes. its also completely bodyless. it gets really annoying
i have straight hair....pin straight, it's quite boring.
Straight. Less maintenance plus people take me WAY more seriously at work.
I have the frizzy/wavy kind of hair, that really can't hold curls or even a decent looking wave, and yet takes a long time to straighten (and even then often doesn't hold). Sometimes, I hate my hair.
Usually, I just throw it up in a ponytail and out the door I go.
I'm super jealous of my roommate's hair. She has huge long flowing red locks.
I have wavy hair with lots of volume. Condition, no brushing, and no short styles... my hair looks better long!
I have naturally curly hair. I've been straightening it a lot lately and have been killing the ends like crazy. So, occaissionally i will wear it curly.
I always hated that my hair was curly. I was never quite sure what to do with it. And growing up everyone in my school had the classic stick straight, tamed blond highlighted hair. I always wore it up. Then i finally got my first straightener in the middle of highschool. It got to the point where people thought my natural hair was straight. So now when i wear it curly they're all like, "oh you curled your hair" and i respond saying, "No, i just didn't straighten it."
The curly hair is going on me. My hair ends a bit longer than my chin, so i can get my hair into cute flirty curls. After i wash it, i comb it through with a de-tangler and then comb through a heat protection serum. Next i use a calming gel to control the frizz, and a sculping gel to let the curls stay. I do NOT use the blow dryer. I let natural air get to it. I don't use curlers to help it either, just use my fingers to scrunch it and set the part.
i have pin straight hair and i hate it its always flat.... i want curly hair.. my mom has it yet i had to take my dad's hair..
@BearHugs@datingish - yea, i permed it 3 times.. so as of now it's damaged but a lot of it grew out.
I have curly hair. I hated it growing up because it was just one more thing for the other kids to tease me about.
Now I love it. I play it up. I wear it down to my waist. I have learned how to use conditioners to keep it curly rather than frizzy. And people compliment me on it all the time!
My hair is VERY straight. I'd kill for wavy hair!
The curling iron is my best friend!
Woo I was surprised to see this up :] I couldn't find any natural straight hair pictures in google D:
I have straight hair, but because I wear it in a sloppy bun all the time from living on the go it becomes curly about every other day...
natural hair looks best. if not it's easiest to deal with =P
i have naturally curly hair and love it because i don't really have to do anything with it...just wash it and throw some gel in and i am done lol although i do straighten my hair from time to time pretty much just to see how long it is lol :)
My hair is wurly (wavy and curly). I don't brush or shampoo... I only use conditioner, baking soda and apple cider vinegar to keep it clean and healthy (and sometimes I only use water). To style it I use gel (scrunch it) and sometimes I use a blow dryer with a diffuser if I'm in a hurry.
I guess everyone dislikes their hair for a period of time. Mine is straight and volume-less =[. It's okay. If I toss my hair a lot, people won't notice? Haha, totally kidding.
I've got straight hair, and I've had perms before, but I prefer my straight hair. It is easier and more natural for me to work with personally. But I love curls on other people! My hair is very straight and I also blow-dry it so it lays properly.. so then it looks even more straight!
