I am an avid face washer. I practically look forward to it every night because it makes me feel refreshed. It's also a common beauty rule to always wash your face at night because it helps keep skin clear and healthy. What I usually neglected to do was take my eye makeup off, or at least all of it. Whatever my face scrub didn't take off (due to my copious amounts of eyeliner and mascara) I usually just slept with.
Well I read a few weeks ago that it's just as important to take off eye makeup, not just foundation and whatever else is on your face (call me naive). They emphasized it for the people that wear a lot of makeup and use contacts: the two things that fit my description perfectly. Oops.
The last thing I want to do is spend another 12 minutes in front of my mirror scrubbing off my Amy Winehouse-like eyeliner. I couldn't imagine how long it'd take, especially since just my face scrub couldn't even remove it all. Fortunately, I discovered that just buying makeup remover specifically designed for eye makeup helps immensely. I use
Eyes Off, it feels nice against the skin and doesn't smell like nail polish remover. It takes more like two minutes to take off my eye makeup, not 12. Which means I have 10 extra minutes to sleep; a godsend for us college kids.
Do you make sure to remove your makeup every night? What products do you use?

Yes! I never forget to take off my make up no matter how sleepy and tired I am. I don't wash my face evrynight with cleanser and water because I stare at the computer for hours and hours.. so I opt for a no rinse cleansing formulas. For my eye make-up, I use the Loreal Gentle Eye make up remover. I use Origins cleansing oil for the entire face. The cleansing oil deep cleans and removes all of my face make up. It also leaves my skin moisturized so I can skip the moisturizer at night. When I have the chance to wash with water, I still use the Loreal Gentle eye make up remover before washing my face using Neutrogena Deep clean. Always remember to take off your eye make-up with a special cleanser and put on eye cream right after. It's a must.
I always take off my makeup before I sleep. I can't sleep unless I take it off.
I use Skinlite Make-Up Cleansing Tissues. They are really convenient and you do not have to scrub to get eye make up off (even if it is waterproof !! ) They come in Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber, and Rose extract and they do not irritate your skin.
Marcelle Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. It's a little oily, but gets off EVERYTHING, even the strongest waterproof mascara. Then I wash my face with some generic brand of Cetaphil, and I'm done!
By the time I go to sleep, my eye makeup is already off. lol
But I usually just reach for the vaseline. A few wipes and it's gone. I tried the whole makeup remover wipes but it just doesn't agree with my skin.
I try to take all my makeup off every night. but sometimes when i get home after a few drinks with the crew i just want to hit the pillow and worry about it in the morning.
I use an eye makeup remover that doesn't sting and works really well. currently the name of it escapes me, i get it at like walmart or target tho.
I just put some lotion on a q-tip and use that. It works really well and it isn't expensive.
I use only oil to cleanse my face, and it takes makeup off easily.
i love the lancome double action eye makeup remover the best :)
I take off my make-up every night, even if it's the last thing I want to do. For eye-makeup I actually mix equal-parts water and Johnson's baby shampoo, it's cheap and takes off even the heaviest--even waterproof--eye makeup. Then I rinse it off and wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser. And I always moisturize with Cetaphil lotion or even cream if my skin feels extra dry.
I usually take my make-up off at night, sometimes I'll wait until the next day before I take a shower.
I use the Facial Cleaning Towelettes. They work wonders, they take the make up off in seconds. Instead of using the old wash cloth, that takes forever to get all the black off your eyes.
i take EVERYTHING off my face before i go to sleep. i just feel cleaner that way. i use this blueish make up remover from sephora but i think when that runs out i'm gona try virgin olive oil.
i usually take off my eye makeup. I never sleep with face makeup on, because I don't wear much to begin with and I'm afraid I'll break out. I use Clinique Makeup Remover. It's decent.
I only use mascara so I don't have to worry about taking it off, since only makeup that touches the skin and is left on would cause breakouts. I never really found a liking for any other type of makeup but lipgloss.
At times, I do not remove my mascara simply because I like how it looks in the morning. That is rare, but still very exists in my laziest moments. I find it easy to use a cream from Jergens called 'All-Purpose Face Cream.' It removes the excess makeup from your face and feels gentle upon the skin. Its unbelievable how much remains even after a purified wash.
neutrogena face wipes that come in a blue container. makeup remover and eye makeup remover all in one. save your money for something else ladies. these things are magical.
if i dont end up using the wipes but decide to wash my face, i use the free clinique eye makeup remover samples that you get for spending a certain amount.
I use baby oil to take off my eye make-up. I've always used it and have never just slept in what was left after washing my face. I think baby oil works just as good as any other eye-makeup remover and it's a lot cheaper! But, it can be a pain if you use it and then put make-up on again. It can easily smudge eyeliner if you don't get all of it off.
I use those rounded pad and smooth it with vaseline, everything comes off! then of course wash your face with a cleanser. works like a pro.
@YouTOme@xanga - Very true! Vaseline is a godsend
@elusiivelove - If that works out, feel free to let us know. It sounds like an interesting way to remove makeup and one we'd love to get insight on for an article (or feel free to write it yourself and submit)
@mo_chic_for_jesus@xanga - Agreed. Talk about raccoon eye.
Clinique take the day off
Mary Kay eye makeup remover
Yes, I have to take off my make-up before I go to sleep cause I feel weird sleeping with make-up on. Yes, I use Rimmel London eye make-up remover, and sometimes I use my Sephora eyeshadow make-up remover stuff, too. I forgot the brand from Sephora. I don't have it in my hands, right now. It's really good though. I adore it.
i usually don't wear a lot of makeup but when i do i just use a tiny bit of soap to wash it off. thanks for posting this!
