I am so madly in love with the matte lips M.A.C did for the Costello Tagliapietra show at NYFW this past spring, I just had to find out how they did it. Isn't this the most perfect Valentine's Day lip color?! Lucky for me (and you), the make up artists shared what they used to create the perfectly bright red matte lip. Check out how it's done after the cut!

You only need two products to create this look (pictured above) and it is super simple. First, make sure that your lips are not chapped or peeling. Matte lipsticks tend to really show any sort of dryness, I would suggest exfoliating then apply a lip balm 5-10 minutes before you apply your lipstick to make sure your lips are soft.Apply your lipstick, let it sit for a minute, blot and reapply (this is my own trick to keep my lipstick from fading super fast, the first layer acts like a stain, and the second layer acts as the "glue" for the pigment). Then dip your lip brush (or small, clean eyeshadow brush) into the pigment and tap off extra. Fold a piece of tissue to use as kind of a stencil for your mouth so any excess powder doesn't fall all over your chin (you'll be glad you did), then press the pigment into your lips with a lip brush. That's it! The result is a long wearing super bright matte lip, just in time for Valentine's Day!
