...at least for those in England (or those savvy enough to find it in the depths of the Internet.)
Technically, Sherlock does not return in America until January 19th when it airs on PBS, but waiting nearly 20 days after the UK premier is just asking for Tumblr to spoil everything, especially the epic cliffhanger the last season ended on.
If you have been in a coma or have completely ignored all things pop culture for the past three years, Sherlock is a BBC drama set in modern day London and follows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson as they investigate the murders and mysteries too difficult for the police to solve — a deceptively simple plot for no ordinary television show.
I first discovered the series courtesy of Netflix in late 2011 and have since rewatched it upwards of seven times, some episodes more than that. Honestly, A Scandal in Belgravia, the season 2 opener, is one of the best hour and half of television I have ever seen and if you have not already realized yet, that has been quite a bit. Even though the show is built around mysteries I already know the answer to, it never fails to entertain. The characters are brilliantly written and acted, none more so than Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role of Sherlock Holmes. He plays Sherlock as a cold, rude, distant genius, all the while endearing, showing just how deeply he cares for his roommate and partner Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) and landlady Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs). Although the current season is still in progress, it has yet to disappoint even as the characters go through many life changes.
I could continue, but do not want to oversell and spoil the show for those of you Lovelies that have yet to watch it. And to those people, access a Netflix account right now and begin Sherlock, but fair warning, you will not be doing anything productive for the next few hours because there is no watching just one episode.
Just to give you an idea, here is the season 1 trailer:
When are you going to start Sherlock? Or are you already a fan, if so what is your favorite thing about the show?
