I admit that I like Star Wars and Star Trek and that I have an inner nerd in me. Apparently though I am not the only fan of certain sci-fi films.

The director of NASA is a glorified trekkie. Right now Keith Alexander is known for being a famous spy, but he is also a sci-fi fan.

Gozmodo just did a feature on NSA Chief’s Former War Room Was Modeled After the Starship Enterprise. They reported, “When he was running the Army’s Intelligence and Security Command, Alexander brought many of his future allies down to Fort Belvoir for a tour of his base of operations, a facility known as the Information Dominance Center. It had been designed by a Hollywood set designer to mimic the bridge of the starship Enterprise from Star Trek, complete with chrome panels, computer stations, a huge TV monitor on the forward wall, and doors that made a “whoosh” sound when they slid open and closed.” [via Gizmodo]

Somehow I find the fact that NASA is run by a Star Trek aficionado very entertaining. The perfect blend of being eccentric with genius. Maybe CBS will write a character based off of him into the Big Bang Theory.

This is another “nerdy” show I love to watch. The best part of that program is when I get the sci-fi reference they make and realize that I fit in with them.

Lovelies, what do you think about the NASA’s chief’s war room being based on a Hollywood set? Are you a sci-fi fan?
