I am always in search of new colors to keep my eyes peeled for and to spice up my look. Recently, it's been all about the deep, rich blues and peachy corals.  Little did I know the perfect color has been right under my nose! I'm talking about camel. Camel is literally the color of camel hair and includes many shades. Camel is one of those colors that just refuses to go out of style and I can totally appreciate its stubborn nature. No matter what time of day or what season you wear it, it still manages to look current and oh so put-together.

That's why I think it's a good idea to invest in a few camel items that will add instant posh and polish to all your outfits.  An easy way to get the look is to throw on a camel scarf or cinch your dresses and pants with a skinny camel belt. Or, if you want something more in your face, there's always chic camel coats, tops, pants, and shoes. Here are five camel pieces that are worth following into the desert and back.

This waffle knit cardigan from Mod Cloth is a layering essential as we move towards fall. Chic and functional. I would throw this on over skinny jeans, flats and a floppy, wide-brimmed felt hat for the ultimate cozy-chic ensemble. LA is basically sitting on a desert, so warm days are followed by cool nights. Fact: my closet is like an extended-stay hotel for comfy, over-sized cardigans.

If my closet is filled with cardigans, then I don't know even know how to describe my affinity for flats. These camel flats from Frye are the quintessential flat designed with the ability to evoke timeless, unwavering style. I love Frye's riding boots and these flats are the perfect non-fussy, functional way to wear camel. They are begging to be paired with skinny jeans and hey, that cardigan would look pretty ideal with it too.

A bag is the perfect way to incorporate a new color into your daily style. Mod Cloth has the bases covered with this vegan faux leather bag which has personality plus. This piece plays nicely with colorful shift dresses, sophisticated heels, and classic coats. This is the new "black bag."

Nail polish is one of the easiest, most budget-friendly ways to have some fun with color. This shade, Case Study from Essie is an affordable, camel shade.

This ruffled chiffon tank goes with everything. The sophisticated nature of camel makes a camel blouse an easy outfit remedy. Perfect with a blazer or worn with casual summer shorts, camel does the trick.
