After journeying to Jolly Ol’ England, I absolutely fell in love with the vibrant culture, especially the great music. It always seems like America is in the middle of British Invasion, and today is no different! Many of the hottest pop acts around are hitting it big overseas and ready to bring their excellent music stateside. Here are some artists to get excited about!

1. Emeli Sande

Scottish born Sande was already a noted hit writer for Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Leona Lewis when she signed her record deal in 2011. Her debut album, Our Version of Events, became a mega hit and even passed The Beatles to claim the record of spending the most consecutive weeks in the Top Ten on the UK charts. Now she is breaking onto the American charts with the single “Next to Me.” Fun Fact: Her real name is Adele, but since there happens to be another popular singer with that name she goes by her middle name.

2. Jake Bugg

This 19 year old indie/folk singer sounds like good rock ‘n’ roll that you would have heard in the ‘60s with a modern twist. His debut album reached number 1 on the UK charts and Bugg has been already been nominated for Brit and NME Awards. He also gained some attention for dissing the mega-popular One Direction.

3. Little Mix

Is Little Mix the next Spice Girls? That’s the buzz on this pop foursome who won the British X Factor in 2011. Their fun pop tracks and eccentric fashions have made them sensations. Their debut album landed at number 4 on the U.S. Charts and they show no signs of stopping. They are currently working on a second album!

4. Marina and the Diamonds

Making kitschy indie pop an art from, Marina and the Diamonds is the cool girl on the British music scene. Her intelligent pop music is fun with a sharp edge. She describes herself as “… an indie artist with pop goals.” She also has an awesome retro meets punk fashion sense that merits some serious envy!

5. Olly Murs

Another X Factor album (he was the runner-up of the series in 2009), Murs is poised to become the next big thing. With three albums and a tour with One Direction under his belt, he is breaking onto the American scene in a huge way. It doesn’t hurt that he is quite the cutie.

6. Example

Example makes some seriously great electronic dance tunes. With hits like “Changed The Way You Kissed Me” and “Won’t Go Quietly” in the UK, he plans to break into the U.S. On his American prospects, he says, “I want to do it on my own terms, I enjoy a good challenge and can’t wait to get started.” Besides his music career, he has aspirations of being a stand-up comedian. He even spent six weeks writing and practising his routine before his first stand-up show.
