I don't know about you, but as I scroll through my Instagram feed, lately I've been seeing a ton of DIY denim shorts. Yes, I could buy a pair already made but some of the shorts that I find are so expensive!

Do you know that old saying, "If you want something done, you have to do it yourself"? Well that's what I did! I created my own DIY denim ombre shorts! It only takes a few steps and a minimal amount of supplies.

Before starting your DIY, make sure you are working in an open environment. The materials include: shorts, disposable bucket, fabric dye (color of your choice), salt, rubber gloves, sand paper, scissors, gorilla glue and studs.

1. Dip Dying: Fill your container with one gallon of steaming hot water while stirring in 4 tablespoons of salt and your preferred color dye packet until dissolved. Submerged the shorts at your lower than your desired length because the dye can run. Make sure to wear rubber gloves!

2. Drying: After you’re finished dip dying rinse the dipped fabric in cold water. Let the shorts dry until completely dry. Finally, wash the shorts in warm water and dry away from direct heat and sunlight

3. Distressing: Use a scissor and cut small slits onto the shorts where you wish to have distressed holes. Then use sand paper and begin to drag lines from the holes until the fibers being to fray and then pull the fibers apart.

4. Studs: Studs are an easy way to give the style of your shorts a new look! Both gluing on studs with gorilla glue or push studs work. Be creative with the designs of the studs anywhere on the shorts!

And that's it! Now you have revamped an old pair of shorts or played around with a new pair! These steps also work on jeans, too! So go ahead and try DIY for yourself! If the product doesn't end out perfectly, it's perfectly fine... every DIY project is unique.

What do you think of my DIY shorts, Lovelies? Do you think you will try this DIY project?
