I have always been a plant-lover; I deeply appreciate their beauty and often times (if not more often) their flavors. Rosemary, sage, and basil are herbs we are familiar with due to their flavorful purpose in the kitchen, but can herbs like these also act as medicines?
I’m currently reading a book called Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health by Rosemary Gladstar. I was initially interested in this book due to the fact that it contains amazing recipes for all natural skin care products, but as I read more deeply I’m learning of all of the herbs that are used for specific health purposes.
The book speaks of the ability of herbs to act as a preventative form of medicine, to increase energy, reduce anxiety and depression and to enhance sleep. There are also specific herbs that can aid sicknesses such as sore throats and headaches. Rosemary does state, though, that herbal medicine and western medicine are best used together in more severe circumstances. Sounds pretty reasonable to me!
Herbs that I see utilized the most in this book are chamomile, nettle, burdock and lemon balm, all of which have the ability to soothe and calm.
Personally, I’m definitely willing to give herbal remedies a shot as preventative method. I’m really curious to see if and how they help with energy and with keeping me healthy. I will definitely keep y’all posted on the results!
Lovelies, would you try herbal remedies for wellness?
