It was recently announced that Fashion’ Night Out events nationwide have been put on an indefinite hiatus. The occasion, originally intended to bolster New York City’s compromised economy in 2009, was full of free parties, cocktails, celebrity sightings and musical performances in assorted retail locations to encourage shopping. 

The reason for the cancellation? The Council of Fashion Designers of America and NYC & Co. have claimed to be focusing their funding elsewhere within the industry. [via RollingStone]

Personally, I’ve seen many a FNO go down first hand, and the only words I can describe it with are a bit inappropriate. Cluster fuhhh… um… shiii…show? Pretty much any Fashion’s Night Out even was a complete mob scene, and I can’t help but think this had a lot to do with it’s cancellation.
