Fresh off the success of her amazing David Bowie video, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” Tilda Swinton has landed another fashionable gig: a new Chanel campaign! Karl Lagerfield is such a mysterious character. While we can accurately predict Lagerfield’s own outfit (black skinny suit, sunglasses and a white ponytail), drink (Diet Coke) and cosmetics (Shu Uemura, always), his creative process remains an ever-evolving enigma. It’s pretty difficult to predict his next move. The 52-year-old actress just doesn’t fit that mold of the other Chanel faces like Alice Dellal and Blake Lively… if there even is a mold, that is.
Not that her age will make Tilda’s campaign for the house any less stunning; if anything, she’ll probably outdo everyone else! As we know from her many, many award-winning movies, those androgynous, Northern European features (Scottish, to be exact — which may have played a role in her casting, as she’ll be modeling the label’s tartan-tastic Pre-Fall 2013 collection), are mesmerizing on film. And, as the Kaiser told WWD, she is “a timeless icon of elegance.”

I think Karl’s made a pretty good pick! While the previous It girls were all amazing, her beauty is so timeless and classic — just like Chanel.
