This year at New York Fashion Week, 3.1 Phillip Lim featured a beautiful chocolate lip supported by a flawless complexion. Let’s take a closer look at how to pull this off.
This beauty breakdown is very pencil heavy so get your sharpeners ready!
This look is cool, edgy and different, while remaining simple and flattering. To achieve this look you’ll need the following products or anything similar:
1. NARS Lip Liner in Kenya
2. NARS Eye Liner in Mambo
3. Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Cream Compact
4. Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder
5. Sephora Clear Defining Mascara
6. Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips
5. Bobbi Brown Eyebrow Pencil
First, perfect your complexion using a full coverage, matte finish compact foundation. Apply the foundation by pressing a product-coated sponge into the skin. Blend to perfection and set with a mattifying powder.
Define your eyes by focusing a creamy brow pencil towards the center of your eyebrows. Leave the edges bare for a natural finish. Use a clear mascara to subtly accentuate your lashes.
Apply some lip balm and let it soak into your lips for a few minutes. Blot off any excess product with a tissue. Line the lips and then fill them in with a brownish-red lip liner. To achieve the chocolate-y hue, lightly layer on a rich brown eyeliner pencil over top of the red.
I love this look because it’s cutting edge, yet wearable. I would love to rock this look to a show or an art opening.

I probably will not be following this trend as it reminds me of my middle school days when many of the girls used brown eyeliners to line their lips. I didn’t, because my parents wouldn’t allow makeup and I didn’t have the means to buy it.

to be totally honest, personally, i think this look would only work on models with like… defined cheek bones and thin features. I mean, being a chubbier teenage girl and wearing a brown coloured lipstick would only end badly for me LOL.

I’m afraid this look would be limited to those who have similar features to the model. This would only work if you were very pale, had blue or green eyes, and blonde or platinum hair would be a must. Otherwise it will just look goulish.
