This may sound a bit silly, but I love hearing love advice and I’m always interested to hear about other people’s dating rules. Don’t get me wrong, I hate those “you know what you should do” types of lectures, but I love hearing good advice and really taking it to heart. Even as a teenager, I had read so many magazine articles, engaged in so many conversations with friends and (regretfully) sat through a horrible tale from my grandfather’s “if you drink too much, your pants fall down” storybook, that I at least had an idea of what dating would be like…or not like, if you tore that page out of my grandpa’s life story. Yikes.

So naturally, when I found these dating rules from fashion designers, I had to share! Don’t worry, it’s nothing like my grandpa’s scary stories.

The best advice I can offer, especially on an over-hyped occasion like Valentine’s Day, is to remove your expectations. Live in the moment, and remember to do nice things for your friends so you don’t fixate on your romantic outlook for the day. That’s the best way to actually enjoy yourself!

A good meal is always the way to a girl’s heart. I’m not such a sucker for Valentine’s Day because men should treat their ladies like every day is V-Day, but every girl loves a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a proper date!

Date a lot, and have fun! But when you know you have found the one, make him your one and only!

Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to be about you and a partner. It’s just as fun and meaningful when spent with friends and family and is a great occasion to make sure you’re always showing yourself a little love—why not book a massage or take a spin class? Have fun with it!
