We can always count on the Grammy Awards to give us some great fashion moments. Musical artists cover all the bases of fashion from the absolutely breathtaking to the outrageous, all in the name of creative expression. Despite the wardrobe advisory CBS issued to all of this year’s attendees, last night proved to be no different.

I love Adele and think that she is absolutely gorgeous. I’m always slightly disappointed, however, when she shows up to practically every public appearance in black. Last night I was expecting the Grammy winner to show up in another black dress but was pleasantly surprised to see her in a bright color…red!

Adele walked the red carpet, where she also flashed her new tattoo (an “A” for her son Angelo), in a pretty floral vintage-style Valentino number. I was so happy that she chose to wear something other than her signature black in an outburst of personality. She topped off the look with a clean up-do and matching shoes and earrings! On first glance last night, my opinion was that it was pretty fab.

The dress’s lacy floral design was overlaid on a black base. The scalloped hems and bell shaped, knee-length skirt fit perfectly with its long sleeves and high neck. The dress itself I think was absolutely beautiful, but I’m not sure I’m loving it on her. Something about it just doesn’t mesh.

Many people that I’ve discussed this with today have expressed similar opinions, some even saying it looked like an old curtain. She’s even been put on a bunch of “worst dressed” lists! Lately, it seems like a lot of dresses have been the recipient of this criticism, namely Kelly Clarkson’s Inaugural Ball gown and Lucy Liu’s Golden Globes ensemble. Honestly, I fall a little bit in love with all of them and they just keep popping up, maybe this is the beginning of a new trend!

Hit or Miss, Lovelies?
