On Thursday, Beyonce made an appearance at the Super Bowl press conference, where she not only responded to all the craziness involving her lip-syncing fiasco during the Presidential Inauguration but also proved that she has the singing chops to sing anything. Dressed in a cute white dress and awesome pumps, Beyonce sang the “Star Spangled Banner” a cappella and when the applause died down, she laughed and asked “Any questions?” Super sassy! Check out more of what Beyonce had to say about the issue!
Her response should definitely put all the indignation she received for her lip-syncing incident at the Presidential Inauguration. Beyonce did confirm that she used backing track for the event, but for a good reason. Apparently, she was so busy rehearsing for the upcoming Super Bowl that she did not have time to rehearse with the bad for the Presidential Inauguration. She said, “I am a perfectionist. One thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show. It was a very important emotional show for me, one of my proudest moments.”
Beyonce went on to explain that she did not have time for a proper sound check and did not want to take her chances. “I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the President, the Inauguration,” she explained, “I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along to my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry.” Personally, I think her response was totally reasonable. It was a big event and she did not have enough time to prepare, besides the recording was still her voice and no one can doubt that Beyonce is amazingly talented.
After assuring the crowd that she would be singing live at the Super Bowl because she was “born to do” it, she also claimed that there would be a special announcement during the performance. When asked if she would be going on tour anytime soon, she simply said, “I would say soon, and I may have an announcement after the performance. The fans should just stay tuned to see.” The suspense is killing us!

Lovelies, what did you think of Beyonce’s response to the lip-syncing backlash?

My response is that I can’t believe people were actually talking about this.

All I really got out of those excuses were that she’s so much of a perfectionist that still at this stage in the game she can’t handle the pressure and negative feedback. Everything has to be perfect and she’s afraid to look human once in a while. To me that’s not endearing. Especially when she’s been doing this for so long, and when it was a song that she wasn’t dancing in or anything. At least I would’ve understood that a little more.
I like Beyonce. This did disappoint me though. I’m not saying no celebrity will never lip sync. That’s not reasonable. They all do at some point. Just not on ballads like that and at something THAT big. Especially when she’s not known for that. Come on now. lol

@Erika_Steele@xanga - That’s how I felt at first. I mean she is BEYONCE and everyone knows she was a great singer. Clearly she would be nervous and want it to go well.

i don’t like her, she’s too much of a diva for me.

I don’t think anyone would have criticised her if it hadn’t been 100% perfect. She may be a perfectionist, but not everybody knows everything about music, and I think I’d find performances more moving if I knew they were live, and genuine, and I felt that it was from the heart. I just think it’s supposed to be a live show, with the emphasis on live. But it’s not going to stop happening in the music industry, and I guess the positive thing is that she’s been honest about it. She’s not the only one who’s done it, I just hope that it doesn’t become a common thing for every singer, at every important performance.

i love beyonce. she handles things with class, even if you think it’s bullshit, well it’s a clean and professional way to handle bullshitting if that’s what you’re going for

I actually thought that her National Anthem performance was pretty underwhelming. That said, I’ve always thought she was extremely overrated, so this whole thing has just been kind of satisfying for me.

@honestlystronger@xanga - I agree. It makes it so much less genuine.

I think it’s so funny how people think lip syncing is such a huge scam. If you’re not using your own voice, then yea, I get it. But if it’s your job to sing all the time, you’re going to have to pick and choose where to take it easy. I especially don’t get it when people get so pissed about them lip syncing at their own concert. It’s like, well, she/he might have a cold and not be able to sing easily… would you prefer they cancel the show? Because I’m pretty sure people would be even more pissed about that lol.
Anyway, the girl can obviously sing. The media should never have made a huge deal about it in the first place.
