Mean Girls is probably one of the most quotable movies in contemporary movie history. Young people throughout the country have integrated lines from this film into their daily lives. (If I had a nickel for every time I hear “She doesn’t even go here!” on my college campus, I’d be a rich girl!) On the red carpet at the SAG Awards, Tina Fey confirmed her interest in recreating Mean Girls as a Broadway musicals.

Fey told E! Online that she is working with her husband, Jeff Richmond, a composer for 30 Rock and Paramount to create the teen drama musical.

As if Mean Girls weren’t epic enough, putting it on Broadway as a musical might make it about 200 times more cool. Can you imagine Regina George leading her pack and ruling the school with her razor sharp insults while singing and dancing? I don’t know about you, but the picture I conjured in my mind is absolutely hilarious.

Not only is Mean Girls extremely quotable, but in the near future we might also have super catchy musical numbers to hum to.

Who would star in this musical? Well, Tina Fey would love to see Mariah Carey as Regina George’s “cool” mom (originally played by Fey’s pal and Saturday Night Live co-star Amy Poehler). I’m not sure how likely that is to happen, but I hope this project gets off the ground soon for us to see who gets these iconic roles. I can’t wait!
