People across the country were in awe of Kelly Clarkson’s performance of “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee” at President Obama’s second inauguration on Monday. A few hours after she belted out this stunning performance, she stepped out to the Inaugural Ball with fiancé Brandon Blackstock in a vibrant Oscar de la Renta gown. 

Kelly was obviously very excited about both the night and her stunning yellow gown, tweeting about it multiple times throughout the night. In the second photo snapped of her in the full-length strapless dress she put the caption: “Me and Brandon in our fancy attire :) Fun night!” Earlier, posted a picture of her sitting in the car with the caption: “My dress barely fit in the car for tonight’s festivities! I feel like Cinderella!”

And I don’t blame her. I think that is totally a Cinderella dress. I think the dress itself was gorgeous and classic. I love the neckline and the ruched bodice. I also think the colors are totally fab! She did a great job with make-up and accessories keeping it simple, which was much needed for a dress that busy! I think she looks good in the dress, but I would have loved to see it cut to flatter her body shape better.

Those who are not fans of the dress say that it looks like it was made from Grandma’s drapes or table cloth, much like Lucy Liu’s Golden Globes dress (which I have to say, I was also a fan of).
