We all know that I love the red lipstick look. It’s totally daring while still looking clean and classic. Generally, red is a very bright and loud color that just screams “Look at me!” Grabbing attention is inevitable. Now, if I know all eyes are going to be on me, I want to make sure that I do it right! I hear all the time about how girls love the red lipstick look, but they aren’t sure how (or if) they can pull it off. Don’t be afraid! With these pointers on how to get the perfect red lipstick look, you’ll be rocking red lips confidently in no time!
1. Be Careful When Picking Your Lip Liner
Lip liner is a must when wearing red lipstick. Lining your lips beforehand will help prevent the color from running and making a mess. Make sure that the color of your lip liner matches the color of your lipstick. This is useful for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it prevents that horrid two-toned lip look, and secondly, it’ll neutralize any natural pinkness in your lips. Also, fill in your entire lip with the liner color. In case your lipstick wears off at all, you’ll have a back-up color on your lips!
2. Apply Your Lipstick
I like to use a lip brush to apply the lipstick because it’s more exacting and tends to last longer (maybe because the bristles in the brush can better fill any crevices in the lips?). I usually go for one coat, but if you want the color to be more potent, feel free to apply more.
3. Use A Setting Powder
In between multiple coats, lightly coat your lips with a nude setting powder to help with longevity of fabulousness.
4. Finish With A Clear Gloss
After you finish applying all the color you want, lock in the look with a clear, glossy top coat.
5. Step Out With Style
Don’t forget a smile and a confident step, because you look AMAZING!

I don’t have any tips to add, but I am having trouble picking out a red lipstick! Perhaps someone at Lovelyish will post how to choose a flattering red lipstick.

I’m wearing red lipstick to work today
I love doing either red or pink lips if I;m not doing my eyes up. My lipstick does tend to fade really quickly though,

@nobody_was_here@xanga - Try lip stain. You get the same look, it isn’t glossy and it lasts pretty long. It basically just looks like a marker for your lips. Plus no waxy taste. Or sticky lips for that matter.

Hm, cool, I’ll check it out
Thank you!

@zzzzzulavalle@xanga - wet n wild seriously has the best red lipstick and it’s only two dollars. It’s very matte. I’ve been asked if I was wearing NARS before while wearing it haha!

@zzzzzulavalle@xanga - Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot Passion is very affordable and a great color. (It’s the red Taylor Swift wears.) If you want something a tad higher end but still affordable, MAC’s Russian Red and Ruby Woo are outstanding colors.
