I get that see-through shirts are all the rage right now, but I’m getting more and more ready for the trend to pass. It looks awesome on the runway, but in real life? For the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to find some new nicer tops to wear when I get dinner with friends or whatnot.
Unfortunately, all of the shirts with the cuts I liked were completely see-through. Personally, I don’t really want people to see my everything, and I also think that the tops lose the ultimate appeal of their look when paired with a tank underneath. Alas!
Here are the only reasons I can think of for wearing a see-through top:
1) You have a nice body and really want everyone to know it. And good for you, that’s great. I just don’t want to do that.
2) You have a badass tattoo that is begging to be displayed.
3) It’s super hot outside and you’d rather not be wearing a shirt.
4) Your bra cost a butt load of money and it’s cuter/prettier than any of your shirts.
Well, those are the only reasons I can come up with. And seeing as it’s freezing where I live (omitting the super-hot-outside reason) and I’d rather only let certain people see all of my business, I’m going to pass. But thanks fashion world for giving us something new to stare at.

i like sheer tops. I mean there a nice way to wear it and there is an indecent way to wear it. But thats like every single trend/classic look out there.
wear a thin camisole underneath or tank tube top etc.

i think it can look alright with a thin cami underneath depending on the colors. i wear them a lot when i want a more modest way to wear my bandeaus.

@tears_foraffairs@xanga - I like the idea of the bandeaus!

I like them with bandeaus as well. Or when they are different textures, like part chiffon, part lace. I have part of my arms and my entire back tattooed, so I like being able to show it off. I prefer backless shirts though

If I had any sheer tops, I’d only wear them with tank tops or camis. I think I’d feel too naked with anything less underneath. The closest thing I have is a sheer + lace textured top, which I follow the same rules for.

the right camisole under a sheer top can have the same sex appeal/look as just wearing it with a bra. A basic camisole is the easiest way to go, but to make the outfit more interesting, you can pick one just for that particular top.

I ended up wearing a sheer top yesterday. I wore a basic camisole underneath. I think camisoles, and tank tops are the way to go if you want to wear a sheer top. I’m not comfortable just wearing my bra underneath a sheer blouse. I think it is somewhat dependent on tasteful styling. Like all trends, they come and go…

Well, I honestly don’t like following trends, and I do think the sheer tops are nice but I do agree that they are too much now. As in, they are seen everywhere.. Where I live, you see all girls wearing it and it’s just.. Old. Everything gets old too quickly. And I wish everyone would see that they are not so different, when everyone is wearing what’s “different” and “new” all the time.
But in my opinion.. Bandeaus and tank tops are probably best with sheer tops. Just bras are overrated and isn’t the best look for mature minds.

….
Just wear a cami under it if you are that bothered by it o.o
Not rocket science here.

I agree with a sheer shirt losing it’s appeal when paired with a tank, but I guess I just have to spend more time looking for a great undergarment for it. Just a bra doesn’t fly in school and I’m not brave enough for it outside of school. Maybe a bandeau.

It lacks class. But hey, it’s like one friend told me, “I’ve got a nice rack, so why not show it?” Well, for one thing, it’s fine and dandy to wear it much of the time, but I remember my doctor’s last receptionist. Sheer with cleavage, and the poor thing didn’t understand that just because she’d just graduated from school with a degree in journalism didn’t guarantee her a shot at a job on t.v., going in for an interview like that. So she’s been schlepping around town in rather low paying jobs, still dressing the same way, waiting for that elusive phone call. Wear what you want. It’s your business. But consider what you are wearing when you look for a job, a particular type of job, that is. And I never minded people commenting on my hair, or my looks when I was young, but I was too much of a feminist to have people eyeball what was underneath my shirt. Because I’m seeing sheer shirts without anything underneath.

I like wearing them with high-waisted body con skirts (covers your stomach if you’re concerned)!

I hate sheer tops. I don’t like my cami showing through the top, especially if it’s a bit lop-sided and then it looks frumpy. I don’t like having to keep my cami lying nicely on me so that the top looks good too. One of my tops isn’t really that sheer, but I still need to wear a cami underneath to hide my bra. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve seen a top and thought “wow, I absolutely love the cut of this!” but then I see the sheerness of the fabric and I have to sadly turn it away.

hmm.. i actually love sheer tops
and i personally don’t think it loses its appeal when paired with a top. i never wear tank tops or camis by themselves, so putting them under a sheer top is perfect for me lol
