If there’s one thing I can occupy myself with for hours and hours without getting bored, it’s watching YouTube covers of my favorite songs. At this point, not only do I have favorite singers, I have YouTube singers who I can subscribe to. Recently, I’ve found something else that I’ve become almost as excited about. Flute covers.
Okay, maybe it’s just my way of expressing my regret for quitting the flute in 6th grade, but really, these covers are pretty amazing and definitely worth checking out. When you hear a talented flautist, it’s hard to get that perfect tone out of your head. Here are my five favorite flute covers of popular songs.
1. Call Me Maybe
2. Fireflies
3. Only Girl In The World
4. Starships
5. Somebody That I Used To Know
Lovelies, what do you think of these covers? Which is your favorite? image source

I played flute for 7 years. Not to take away from these flautists’ talent, because they all have a good tone, but I found listening to the majority of these to be just unpleasant.
You should youtube Greg Pattillo and Project Trio if you haven’t before. They’re incredible, a little different but awesome!

yeah these flutists aren’t that good. It makes me cringe a bit. Cool concept though.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt on their tone quality, since home webcams usually have shitty microphones (which I learned first hand when I tried to record some of my music). This is still really cool for them and I think its great to make people realize that flutes (and other concert instruments) aren’t just boring things for geeks or whatever. I will say that these songs are not at all technically challenging, but most of the players look young and they still did a good job with it.

The only one that was enjoyable was the nicki manaj one. If I were to judge the worth of the flute as a musical instrument according to the rest of those videos, I’d think it was pretty useless. No offense.
