I’ll be the first to admit it: some things are much easier with a little liquid courage. First dates, parties, family events: they all just go down a little bit easier when a little booze goes down first. However, even though certain events would probably be a bit more relaxed if you were sharing a drink with the other party (looking at you, job interviews), it’s certainly beyond socially unacceptable to get boozy beforehand. But as usual, celebrities are the exception to this rule, and Amanda Seyfried revealed some…interesting details about her pre-interview habits on Letterman last night.
Here’s a transcript of the part where Amanda mentions her…pre-game ritual:
Dave: Have you been drinking tonight?
Amanda: Sure, yeah, I’m pretty drunk.
Dave: So how much have you had to drink?
Amanda: To be honest with you, Dave: I’ve had about three.
Dave: Are we talking about a fermented beverage or a distilled spirit?
Amanda: Um, you know, [I'm] a big fan of whiskey. … I had some [Middleton] before I got here and then your lovely colleagues had some Jameson waiting for me.
Dave: Are you all right?
Amanda: Yeah, I’m fine! Listen, I have to go on record saying I’ve never done a live television after, um, noon without some kind of liquid courage.
Girl has some cojones to say that on TV! Though I guess if you’re a celebrity, it probably takes a lot to shock the public, what with all the Lindsay Lohan types running around out there. Frankly, I think Amanda would be awesome to grab a drink (or three) with! This makes me look forward to seeing her performance in Les Miserables even more. [via Buzzfeed]
What do you think of Seyfried’s confession?

At least she’s honest!

I can understand the feeling. I mean, she’s putting herself out there, she will likely be asked questions she would rather not answer, and all of it is going to be judged by people she has never met and most likely never will. I would drink too!

I understand how liquid courage works. Good for her to admit it since I can’t relate to her situation in the heat of show biz.
