As a teen, I wasn’t exactly big on social graces. In fact, most of the time it was downright difficult for me to attract a man. (Looking back, my obsession with The Matrix may have had something to do with it.) So, naturally, I did what every other lonely teenage girl would: I turned to magazines like Seventeen for advice. And while some of the information these publications doled out seemed weird, one bit of advice always popped up: dudes love the smell of yummy stuff. And smelling like a cookie/cake/baked good was somehow appealing to them. But…what about pizza? Is smelling like delicious Italian food the way to a man’s heart? Pizza Hut seems to think so!

Yup, you read the title right: Pizza Hut is releasing pizza perfume.

If this sounds like a joke to you, that’s because the whole concept started out as one. According to The Huffington Post, Grip Limited, an advertising firm that works with Pizza Hut Canada, posted the following question to its Facebook fans in August as an apparent tongue-in-cheek joke: “Do you love the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened? We thought so. If that smell was a perfume, what would it be called?”

But the response was so strong that Pizza Hut decided to go ahead and make the fragrance–albeit in very limited quantities–and send bottles to the first 100 Facebook fans who had commented.

OK, so PH isn’t really taking itself seriously here. Actually, this whole promotion is pretty funny…and brilliant, because this story has been all over the blogs today. For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to get a whiff of this rare, precious scent, it’s apparently supposed to smell like “dough with a little bit of seasoning added.” I’ll just take Pizza Hut’s word on that one!
