Crate and Barrel just put a pretty controversial item on its shelves– the beggar wallet. Designed to look like the white and blue coffee cups that many homeless people use for begging, the wallet is, should we say, ironic.
One of the hardest things to swallow? The creation was purposeful, and not just an awkward coincidence. Crate and Barrel’s product description said “Inspired by the iconic blue and white coffee cup often seen in the hands of New York City panhandlers, this quirky wallet begs to be seen. Soft faux leather fits snugly in your back pocket or handbag. Won’t spill any of its valuable contents, thanks to a nifty zip top.”
Maybe it’s just me, but of all the words that come to mind when I think about this product, quirky isn’t really one of them.
Lovelies, what do you think? Is this just a quirky wallet that begs to be seen, or do you have a similar problem that I, and many others, have with its design?

Wow, making profits from mocking those with misfortunes…what a shitty company.

@T3hZ10n@xanga - That was perfect.

…this is the ultimate gift the douchebag of the family would get for themselves.

there are other items out there .. that are distasteful, but people dont just use THOSE cups to get change, they use Dunkin Donuts cups, plain ones. I am in favor of this, it does exactly what it needs to, collects change =]
i wouldnt purchase it. but its a cool stocking stuffer.

Ugly wallet.
Totally agree with @punxybrewster. Φ ≡

This is just wrong…on so many levels.

They could donate the earnings made from selling these and even then it would still be distasteful. That says something about where our culture is headed.

@XxQuT3nShYxXBX@xanga - it doesn’t matter if they use dunkin donuts or any other cup. that’s not the point. the fact that they’re selling this as fashionable, ‘just like the homeless! ™’ is exploiting someone else’s misfortunes. it’s not cool or cute at all as a ‘stocking stuffer’, it belongs in the trash with their shitty products to make them money.

Am I seriously the only one who is not offended by this? lol

@punxybrewster – I’m pretty sure you’ve purchased something that was questionable such as products tested on animals that are harmful? How is anyone being harmed in this situation?
I see it exploiting the cup and homeless.. But maybe it could turn around and be an eye opener if enough people oppose the sale of this item. I for one won’t be supporting it.
They truly could of used something else to symbolize the need for “change “
