Crate and Barrel just put a pretty controversial item on its shelves– the beggar wallet. Designed to look like the white and blue coffee cups that many homeless people use for begging, the wallet is, should we say, ironic.

One of the hardest things to swallow? The creation was purposeful, and not just an awkward coincidence. Crate and Barrel’s product description said “Inspired by the iconic blue and white coffee cup often seen in the hands of New York City panhandlers, this quirky wallet begs to be seen. Soft faux leather fits snugly in your back pocket or handbag. Won’t spill any of its valuable contents, thanks to a nifty zip top.”

Maybe it’s just me, but of all the words that come to mind when I think about this product, quirky isn’t really one of them.

Lovelies, what do you think? Is this just a quirky wallet that begs to be seen, or do you have a similar problem that I, and many others, have with its design?
