It’s almost December and that means it’s time for a 2012 fashion reflection! Who were the hottest breakthrough fashion designers of the year? If 2012 was any indication, we have a stylish future ahead of us! So here are my personal picks for this year’s best emerging designers. Check out who made the top 5 and see more from their latest collections below!
Ostwald Helgason: I’m in love with a German/Icelandic design duo and their name is Ostwald Helgason. Fun and youthful cuts, elegant patterns and cute animals? Yes, please! And I’m definitely not the only one who loves them: WWD just put them on their November cover! Only good things from these guys, they’re a must-see!
Simone Rocha: At only 26 years old, Simone Rocha has already had a successful line with Topshop and now has a solo spring collection that everyone is raving about. It’s fresh, unique and totally wearable!
Barbara Casasola: Just this year, Barbara Casasola made a name for herself in just two collections. Her spring line received impressive reviews from Style.com, Vogue’s talent corner and a nomination from the “Who Is On Next Award?” But really, her work speaks for itself. The simple lines and bold, saturated colors are an elegant dream!
Clover Canyon: You may have heard of this designer before but it wasn’t until this year that the Los Angeles designer really blew up. Their beautiful, lightweight and summery look channels Jack Kerouac’s On The Road only … cleaner and prettier. Honestly, every single piece from the spring 2013 collection is on my wish list. Emphasis on the wish.
Jonathan Simkhai: NYC’s own Jonathon Simkhai’s spring 2013 collection is an interesting mash up of California surfer style with a modern NYC twist. He’s been on the watch list for awhile now but this year blessed Simkhai with a buying frenzy like never before. Go Jonathan!
