For the first time ever, thanks to a Japanese creative lab called PARTY, you can have your picture taken in a photo booth and receive a 3D figurine of the image. Well, you could, hypothetically, but for now, the reservations are totally full, and there isn’t even a waiting list. Regardless, this is pretty cool and revolutionary.
Explained and demonstrated in the video above, PARTY opened an exhibit called OMOTE 3D SHASHIN KAN that will run until Jan 15. Unlike many other photo booths, this one isn’t exactly instant. It takes up to a month for PARTY to send you your personalized figurine(s) that range from 10 to 20 cm in size.
While having your figurine made, you have to freeze in a predetermined position for around fifteen minutes while a high tech machine scans your body and face.
The caveat? The figurines cost anywhere from 21,000 to 42,000 yen per person, aka $260 to $500 dollars. If you come in a group, you get a discounted price, but it’s a bit more pricey than the average $2 photo booth picture.
Lovelies, what do you think? Would you spend a few hundred dollars on a figurine of yourself?

That’s pretty awesome, I’d probably do it if I could afford it.
