1,500 dogs, 160 breeds and 7 categories made up this year’s National Dog Show presented by Purina. The annual tradition which immediately follows the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is very popular among dogs as well as their owners (I actually have a couple of adorable videos of my dogs staring at the television screen as the contestants prance their way around the stage).
This year, something very uncommon occurred; a Wire Fox Terrier won for the second year in a row. Here are the winners of the 7 categories in this year’s show:
Best in Show: Wire Fox Terrier, Sky
Toy Group: Affenpinscher, Joe
Working Group: Great Dane, James
Hound Group: American Fox Hound, Jewel
Non-Sporting Group: Tibetan Spaniel, Tenzin
Sporting Group: Field Spaniel, Ginger
Herding Group: Bearded Collie, Ms. Olivia
Which dog do you think is the cutest?

Hahaha, I love Ms. Olivia’s picture!
She should have won, she looks like the only dog who had fun out of all of these.

What? No Dobies? *whimper* Sorry, but Dobies are the Rolls Royce dogs.
That said, I’m not a fan of small breeds so my vote would go for the Dane. Just wish he still had his big, natural, floppy ears though. Ear cropping is such a disgusting practice.

the terrier looks like he has casts on his front legs. why are his hind legs outstretched like that as if he’s standing on his tippytoes
weird gymnastic training
did the owner make the dog stand on a leg stretching beam
his tail looks mangled and in pain. then made the dog grow a beard. that dog has cute fluffy front legwarmers. he won because he looks unique. a bearded ballerina dog.

@secretbeerreporter@xanga - I watched this live the other day, there was a Dobie in the working group but it did not win.
I really enjoyed watching the dog show!

Dogs are not meant to be poked and prodded and deemed “best” anything. There is absolutely no reason for any of this to happen. And I honestly can’t say I’d ever be able to sit and watch this. The dogs don’t even look cute because they have to be trained to act a certain way. Can’t a dog just roll over and hang his tongue out, completely unscripted, and be cute? Who cares if their bones are perfectly placed and their teeth are pearly white? I can’t stand that people actually encourage this to go on.
I’m not a dog person, but I love animals. And this is just humanity at its dumbest, if you ask me.
