Winter is rearing it’s head early in the Pacific Northwest, and I couldn’t be more excited. I recently accepted the fact that freezing weather doesn’t necessitate dressing like a lump of coal — in fact, looking around, I’d say that some of the best style comes from the coldest of days!
Maybe I’m just making up excuses for the rain and sleet, but aren’t they great wardrobe challengers? Winter weather encourages us to think outside the box (and by box, I mean sweats and uggs) to achieve a look we’re glad to be seen in! Or, at the very least, a look that isn’t boring.
I love all of these looks for the risks they take, their different textures, the way they play with dimensions, their use of tights, and their unexpected pops of color! I personally wouldn’t wear heels out on slick sidewalks, but I commend and envy those who can!
So if you’re pulling your hair out ’cause, like me, you’ve worn the same sweater for the last week and you don’t know what else to do, take some inspiration from these ladies who kept their style cool (ha, get it?!) in the cold of November.

I have to say, a lot of these looks are cute, but not very functional. If the snow is blowing at twenty miles an hour into your face, you’re not going to want to wear an over-sized sweater and tights. Just a thought…

I loved how pretty these looks are, but, when weather here gets around zero, they don’t cut it. I’ve had a monstrous strength parka for 10 years that has a hood with velcro, and nothing gets past my face. Boots and gloves are a must as well.
