Well, Ugg haters, I have good news for you—the boots you loathe so much may finally be on the way out. It was recently revealed that Ugg profits are down thirty-one percent and are quickly waning in popularity with customers, specifically women. Ugg’s parent company said they are going to reduce the prices of the boots to try to draw interest, but it looks like people are finally just over the Ugg look.
I understand why people dislike Uggs. They can look sloppy and lazy. However, they are also extremely comfortable and warm and I still find myself pulling out my Uggs from time to time in the winter. I know it makes me look not put together, but sometimes I just can’t resist. I get pulled into the Ugg trap and don’t know how to escape. I’m going to challenge myself to only wear them around the house this winter and not out in public. We’ll see how successful I am. Wish me luck.
What do you think about Uggs, lovelies? What do you like or dislike about them? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!

but….but…I just bought my first pair (finally)!
Noooooooooooo !!!!!!!

I was never a fan of those particular boots. They seem like slippers, but in boot form. Plus, they are totally impractical in my area, not to mention they are very expensive. I hate it when my feet get sweaty and these look like they will make my feet sweaty.

I don’t understand how it makes someone look “not put together”… maybe if you’re wearing a dirty old pair with sweatpants? but a nice, clean looking pair with some jeans doesn’t make anyone look “not put together.”
anyway, the reason I haven’t been buying is because the prices got WAY too ridiculous… hopefully they bring the prices down so I can get some again!

I don’t like them. They are hideous and they make your feet look like they are encased in furry cinder blocks. However, if other people want to wear them, they can. I just feel that there are choices that are equally warm and comfortable as they are fashionable when you are looking for a winter boot.

Nope. I have 5 pairs & just ordered 3 more.
How are they sloppy & lazy? When worn with the right outfit, they look good.
I’ll bet you that if you take a look at ANY company in this current economy, the sales percentages will be down a significant amount.

Please, jesus, let them be on their way out.

@raspberryjade@xanga - It does, though. The Ugg boot, or at least, the original one, screams “middle/high school” to me and just about everyone else I know who is close to my age. It doesn’t look “put together” – It looks like you’ve been stuck in the Ugg rut since 2003 and haven’t managed to climb out yet… I’ll take a pair of leather boots over Uggs any day. They’ll keep my feet warm and not get all grimy and gross after trudging through rain, sleet, snow in them. The vast amount of fashionable yet warm alternatives means that anyone could easily find anything better than Uggs. The money could be better spent. Of course, there’s always people who like them. It’s their money, not mine, being wasted.

@babybug329@xanga - surprisingly Ugg boots are pretty good at preventing the sweaty foot phenomenon lol. I wear them because I have nerve damage that makes even slippers hurt, Uggs are warm enough that I can go without socks and be in a minimum amount of pain

@Trueinnerbeauty - Sorry to hear about the pain caused by other shoes. I’m glad you were able to find a pair of shoes that keep your feet warm and don’t cause you more pain.
guest
@babybug329@xanga - Yeah I was going to say that. They do look a lot like slippers… If I ended up getting them (which I wont) I’d probably just wear them for slippers lol.. In fact, I have slipper boots that look VEEEERY similar to uggs lol.

@blackspiders@xanga - k. thanks for your opinion.

@raspberryjade@xanga - The majority of people I see wearing UGGS wear them with shorts and a hoodie or leggings. They don’t look put together at all. I assume that is what the OP was referring to. But I agree that if they are paired with jeans they aren’t so bad. I just personally don’t like them.

I. Hate.Uggs.
Uggs=Ugly.
And they are expensive.
And I hate this stupid trend of things that are overrated and cost wayy too much being popular.

Oh thank you, sweet baby zombie Jesus. The time is nigh.

We can only hope, but I highly doubt it. They seem like the “indestructible cockroach” of shoes. That, and Crocs.
guest
I could deal with the look of them (which isn’t too great) for the comfort if they weren’t so freaking expensive.
guest
@lttlegel - haha I agree with the shorts and uggs look… it doesn’t even make practical sense!

I can see why people think they look ugly or sloppy, but if you think about, not everybody is going to like the shoes you wear.
I’m not a fan of Uggs myself, nor do I own a pair, but if you wear Uggs, I’m not going to make a rude comment about.
Shoes are shoes. I know we are girls, and shoes means everything to us, but why are we judging people for being lazy for sloppy for wearing a certain shoes.
People wear sweats and oversize sweatshirts all the time, and they are deemed lazy attire, yet it still hasn’t gone out of style. Uggs are like sweats and sweatshirts, in a sense.

I wear minatonkas which are like uggs and I got them for Christmas from my dad well I hated them then I felt bad cause I hurt his feelings. Well they are warm and I live in PA so I need them. I don’t care that their the most fashionable shoe but sometimes I just need that extra warmth. Like when my power went out last week and I was wearing 2 jackets a hat scarf gloves and boots in my house and while I was sleeping -_-

I now only wear them as house slippers too. Never in public. They’re really bad for your feet anyways; there is no arch support and the sole has zero grip so you can slip very easily. If you want the boots look and warm feet, get some cute waterproof leather boots and wear wool (cotton sucks) socks. That’s what I do! I have supported arches, a very cute non-sloppy look, and warm feet!

I can’t imagine giving a damn about how a winter boot looks if it can keep my feet warm. If it can stand up to our -40C(-40F) winters, I’m wearing them even if they look like murdered kittens clinging from my ankles. If you have the luxury of caring about what your shoes look like in winter, your winters aren’t cold enough.

I didn’t know they made purple and blue uggs so if they do drop the price, I might look into those…
