Can you put a price on virginity? One Brazilian students thinks so. Her price? $780,000.

Twenty-year-old physical education Catarina Migliorini auctioned off her virginity as part of a project by Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely. Although the actual act of sex will not be filmed, Catarina and her partner will both be interviewed before and after.

The winning bid of $780,000 came from a Japanese man named “Natsu”. A male also auctioned off his virginity for the project, but his winning bid was only $3,000.

Before Catarina and Natsu have sex, they will both undergo testing. He will be checked for sexually transmitted diseases and she will checked to make sure she is really a virgin. If they both pass, the deed will be done aboard a plane flying over the ocean in attempt to escape anti-prostitution laws.

Prostitution is defined as the act or practice of providing sexual services to another person in return for payment. Although this is exactly what Catarina is doing, she doesn’t see herself as a prostitute. “If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute, just like if you take one amazing photograph it does not automatically make you a photographer,” she said.

So what will she do with the money? Catarina claims she is doing to use it for a charitable purpose by building homes for needy people in her native Brazil. “I’m a romantic girl at heart and believe in love,” she said. “But this will make a big difference to my area.” Whether she is telling the truth remains to be seen.
