It usually does not take much for parents to embarrass their teenage son or daughter. Most of the time, simply standing too close to their child or saying “I love you” a bit too loud is cause for a massive eye roll or a very long and loud sigh. For a mother and father in Wisconsin, the embarrassment that was caused to their daughter was not an accident, in fact, it was completely intentional.
After deciding that they would no longer tolerate their teenage daughter talking back to them and being very disrespectful, the Wisconsin parents tried to think of a way to punish her that would really make her see that they were serious. So, the couple came up with a punishment that was sure to hit their daughter where it hurt most..her Facebook page.
The parents first took away their daughter’s cell phone for a week, during which time they took and posted about 10 photos of themselves to her Facebook page. The photos were of the parents making funny faces and awkward gestures.
Since the photos have been posted, they have circulated all over the Internet and eventually made it to the social media site Reddit. It was there that the girl’s brother weighed in on the situation saying that he agreed with how his parents are punishing his sister and that everyone thinks that the photos are funny.
Of course, with any punishment by a parent comes backlash as well. Many people commented on the photos saying that they disagree with how the teen’s parents punished her and that there are better ways of punishment that do not involve publicly humiliating the teen girl.
What do you think of how these parents punished their daughter? Would you ever use this punishment for your own children?

I find that to be a really creative way of punishment, although it wouldn’t be punishment for me. I would probably laugh it off.

This is a very unique and non aggressive way to handle the situation. I wish my mom and step dad would have taken this approach instead of how they handled things.

I think it’s hilarious. It could be right or wrong, depending on the individual child. I’m sure the parents know their child best.

From the title, I was afraid that they had published pictures of their daughter. I’m relieved they did what they did. It’s really only a little embarrassing and doesn’t do her much harm. Good one, parents.

That’s not even really all that embarrassing. It’s more funny, and I’m sure her friends all think it’s more funny than embarrassing.

I think this is kind of stupid. If my parents did this to me when I was younger, I honestly wouldn’t be embarrassed or care. If anything, it would have me acting up again because I would know the punishment wouldn’t be severe.
My dad slapped me across the face every time I talked back to him with attitude, and probably still would to this day.. It worked, I rarely ever acted up afterward.

HAHAHA
That’s not embarrassing at all!

That wouldn’t embarrass me at all. So, I don’t know, but I don’t think it was too awful. It could have been worse.

People are mad because the parents posted pictures of themselves? Jesus table-flipping Christ. I could almost understand if her parents had posted some embarrassing childhood photos, or took pictures of her sleeping in an unflattering way, but really now….

How is that humiliating? They’re just posting pictures of themselves making faces. God forbid a kid has ‘strange’ parents. That has obviously never happened before, ever.

Not a big deal.

I think it’s funny. With this day in age, social media is what consumes a teen’s life. So I find this to be a great way of punishment.

If my dad did this, I don’t think I would stop laughing til 2014. Awesome parents.

where are the rest of the pictures??
this is great

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the follow up to this story. This girl actually ended up killing herself! Look it up! Im 100% serious!
Apparently, she had been teased relentlessly for years. She was in therapy and diagnosed as being manic depressive. Her parents were both very aware of the fact that she was being bullied;they just didn’t care. They STILL posted the pictures, despite what their daugter was dealing with at school!
It’s a trending issue all over the news and internet right now! From what iv’e read, it sounds like the parents are probably going to be arrested!
Posting those pictures, and the backlash from doing so, is likely what pushed this girl over the edge. She even made a youtube video prior to her suicide explaining all of this. Those of you saying it is not a big deal should be ashamed! Totally and completely ashamed!!!!
No,I’m totally lying. That was a complete fabrication. BUT, what a nice, dark and gritty little twist that would be, huh???

If people think these photos are too cruel a punishment (i.e. “public humiliation”) for a bratty teenage girl, I think it’s time for them to have a huge reality check. If anything, it was an inventive form of punishment, pathetic only because that is the only form of punishment this girl would apparently respond to.

I don’t understand why this would humiliate anyone. When I clicked the article, I was expecting to read that they posted embarrassing photos of HER! And that would be awful. This is nothing.

I think they publicly humiliated themselves..
