You may have seen the hilarious Amazon reviews of the new BIC For Her pen, which went viral a few weeks ago. It’s hard to believe that FINALLY, in 2012, there’s a pen that’s just for women! Ellen Degeneres was asked by BIC to endorse the new pen, and here’s what she came up with!
Hilarious!
I mean, we’ve all seen those pink, often rhinestoned to death “girl” versions of products… headphones, cell phone cases, etc. If you’re into that stuff, awesome! I enjoy pink just as much as anyone else. But to say that it’s a pen that’s specifically designed for women and then make it look like something you’d find in the little girls section at Wal-Mart makes my eyes want to roll out of my head. But I’m sure that so many women out there are so relieved that they don’t have to worry about accurately representing their gender with their writing anymore. Whew.
Lovelies, what do you think about Ellen’s response to BIC?

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am to finally see lady pens! I am saddened that neither one of my grandmothers are around to witness this proud moment in our history. First the car for women, I know it is only in Japan, and now lady pens! I mean they had pink and purple pens before but they were just man pens in disguise. They were still too difficult to understand and use, but not anymore.

The worst is trying to get any outdoorsy gear for women. It ALL has pink on it somewhere. I mean, I like pink… just doesn’t match with real tree.
I think this product is just as ridiculous as the rest of you, BUT, I have to admit that the “for her” marketing works. How many of you are using expensive “for her” razors and shaving cream? Exactly. There’s no difference except the packaging and fragrance, which tends to be super irritating anyway.

@WaitingToShrug@xanga - for some brands of razors, there actually are differences. some men’s razors have different shave angles and some brands of women’s razors have a different shaped arc. some brands of women’s razors have a ton of moisturizer on the razor too. after using one of my boyfriend’s (unused) razors to shave my legs and underarms, i found that out the hard way and researched it. it was pretty horrible.
i do know what you mean though… if it’s blue, it’s for boys, and if it’s pink, it’s for girls!
