Romeo and Juliet
For me, one of the best parts about using AIM in high school was leaving awesome away messages. Usually they would be quotes from whatever emo band I was listening to at the time, specially chosen so that whatever boy I had a crush on would read them and perhaps get a hint. (They never did.) While my days of using AOL’s once-popular messaging service are gone, the nostalgia for it still lives on. Which is why I particularly enjoy the “BRB, Gotta Do Book Stuff” Tumblr, which posts fictional away messages from classic imaginary characters.
Can you guess which classic novel the above message references? You’ll laugh when I tell you…it’s Lord of the Flies! Hilarious. (And a bit morbid.) Head on over to Tumblr to check out even more messages! [via BRB, Gotta Do Book Stuff]
Which of these do you like best?

Oh the nostalgia
every social networking tool seems to evolve and change or becomes deserted at some point in time. I will be forever missing aim though. Away messages / buddy profiles ♡

Seems like Humbert might have a run in with Chris Hansen if he had his hands on a computer…

HAHA I used to make my statuses (msn, fb, whatever I was on) song lyrics, mostly Mariah Carey, for any guy I was crushing on too! No one ever seemed to get the hint either. hmmmm lol I think we did something wrong

This makes me miss the early part of that decade that nobody can agree on a name for.
