If there’s one thing I love more than Halloween, it’s vintage clothing. So, needless to say, when the two unite it’s a magical experience for me. I’ll often spend far too much time perusing awesome turn of the century Halloween costumes on Etsy, wishing I could don them without ripping every delicate seam. But sometimes “vintage meets Halloween” can get a little…strange. Really, strange, actually, as evidenced by these crazy costumes!

Vintage costumes are the creepiest. It’s awesome. New, gory, detailed costumes don’t give the same eery effect that creeps you down to your soul. My favourite (as far as creepiness goes) is the last one with the rats and the eyeballs.

There was a point in the not-so-very-distant past where people would dress up as “A monster” or “A spy” or something like that… very non-specific sorts of thing, more about trying to wear a unique outfit than to resemble something in particular.
