42-year-old actress Uma Thurman gave birth to a baby girl earlier this summer on July 15. All of these months, the name of her bundle of joy has been kept a secret..until now. Thurman has released the full name of her daughter which consists of not 2, not 3, but 7 names.
Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson is the child’s legal name, but those closest to her call her Luna.
Each name has a significant meaning to either Uma or the child’s father, Arpad Busson.
Luna is the couple’s first child together, but they each have two children from previous relationships to create a Brady Bunch-like family. Uma Thurman and ex-husband Ethan Hawke have a daughter and a son together ages 14 and 10, while Arpad Busson and Elle Macpherson have two sons together.

What do you think of the multiple-named child? Would you ever give your child several names?

When I read the title of this post I was briefly confused… I thought to myself, “What the hell kind of baby name is ’7 of them to be exact’?”

If there’s more more than a first and middle name, it’s too many imho. I just don’t see the point of all those names because I doubt anyone’s going to use them all. Besides, the parents are calling her Luna for short. Why not that?

Uma was raised in the buddhist religion so I expected something unique. I’m surprised there are 7 but she wont have to use all her names if she doesnt want to. The name game is something no one wins. Someone will always talk shit about a name. I have friends on facebook saying her name is weird or not normal but they dont know the meanings of the names either. I get the same shit over the baby names I picked for my children. Oh well, it’s not their baby.
I never understand how “grown” people can be so rude, especially over a child.

the name is unique and something that more people should like, in my opinion. three names is the norm, but why does it HAVE to be that? i would rather have a bunch of names! then i could choose a nickname from a wider variety of things :b i have two middle names, but if i had five i think i’d like it better.

I’d hate to be a superstar and keep my kids covered up. But – that’s the kinna world we live in today due to people’s malfeasance and paparazzi.

One of my cousins has about 9 names but he just uses his first name and his first middle name. I kinda wish i had 7 names since my parents were mean and didn’t even bother giving me one middle name. I’ve always wanted a middle name =/

Having a “uma” and “luna” could get super confusing! As for all the names…to each his or her own! I think it’s a bit much, but obviously she won’t go by all 7. All the Nigerian kids I grew up with had 2 different first names that they used interchangeably- I was mostly jealous at the time that I only had one.
We’re kind of having a similar issue with the baby that’s due now- my husband is Mexican and we’re giving her a Nahuatl name (Xochitl) and an easier to pronounce name (Beatriz) but we still can’t decide which to put first. Maybe we should just add 5 more and it won’t matter!

That is a lot of a names, but that’s not my kid so I really have no say in it. Personally, I doubt I will name any of my future children that many names…we will likely stick to first, middle and last rather than 2 or more middle names. I guess they feel they will not have any more children so they figured they’d use all up their favorite names?
@x__Coldinthegrave@xanga - I don’t have a middle name either. I wished I had one, too.

I don’t have a middle name and I love that. I don’t think I’ll give my future children middle names either.
Damn, seven names? How do you fit that on forms with limited spaces? haha
