Aside from a few blurry aerial shots and one sketch of the dress, we haven’t seen much evidence of what Anne Hathaway’s wedding looked like. I mean, she’s a Hollywood A-lister, so naturally it was probably beautiful and grand and magical. And she has every right to have a private special day. But sometimes we plebeians just really want to get a peek into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. (What’s wrong with a little escapism?) Which is why it’s not surprising that Anne is sticking with the age-old celebrity tradition of selling her wedding photos to a tabloid. But this time, there’s a generous twist to the traditional plot.

As, uh, I’m sure you’ve already guessed from the title of this post, Hathaway is giving money she received for the photos to charities promoting marriage equality. A representative of the organization Freedom to Marry made this statement about the donation:

Hathaway is doing her part to ensure that same-sex couples across the country can enjoy a fairytale wedding like hers; this week, she announced that she’ll be donating some of the sales from her wedding photographs to non-profits advocating for marriage for same-sex couples, including Freedom to Marry.”

Well that’s pretty awesome! Perhaps one day I’ll be rich enough to to the same thing. Or perhaps there will just be marriage equality by the time I get hitched. Let’s hope for the latter. [via The Advocate]
