Quite a bit of my extended family tends to lean toward giving gifts involving large, very fuzzy items like sweaters and bathrobes. While, of course, it’s the thought and love that counts, sometimes you just need to move around stuff in your closet and either donate your old barely used Christmas presents or make them into something useful. My favorite ideas of these are the ones involving ways to spice up the gifts you then give other people, such as a wine holder, or ways to decorate for the holidays (like the pumpkins above)!
I love this one! I think wine is always a great gift, but when made more personal, it adds an element of caring and sweetness for the receiver. Check out the gallery and Buzzfeed for more!
Lovelies, would you try any of these reinvigorating sweater DIYs?

You can also unravel it and make it into another sweater

I don’t understand the trend of destroying sweaters to make something else. Sweaters are expensive. Just learn to knit/crochet and make all these other “useful” things without destroying something else

@loner_writer@xanga - If only I were so talented! Unfortunately, my fingers are not coordinated enough

@voodoo_flower_child@xanga - Haha, while I see you’re point, I think that repurposing is often meant to use items that are no longer usable for their original purpose. For example, if you shrunk a sweater, grew out of it, it’s been eaten by moths or you simply don’t like it any longer. There’s no use in keeping something intact and in your possession if you won’t be using it, so either donating or repurposing are effective ways to recycle fabric. Plus, not all sweaters are expensive.

@samescobar - see that makes sense, but I just picture people going out and slashing perfectly good sweaters to make a pair of socks that could easily be knitted hahaha

@samescobar - No big deal. I can’t do it, either.
