The move-in date for my new apartment is fast approaching, but my excitment is starting to turn into panic. I have so much to clean and pack and buy that all the fun of decorating is now cowering in the dark recesses of my mind. How do some people have the energy to move all the time?! (To those that do, I salute you!)
I’m wary of turning this next chapter of my life into a bad experience, though. And since I’ve been working on focusing on the positive, I thought I’d take a step back and redirect my obsessive planning towards the fun, non-stressful stuff: decorating! I recently wrote about easy home D.I.Y. ideas, but now I want to share the rooms and living spaces that have been inspiring me as of late.
Disclaimer: all this home inspiration might send you into a cleaning frenzy (at least, that’s what happened to me…)
I guess it’s fair to say that my apartment dreams are pretty lofty. I know at the end of the day, I’m moving into an apartment in the city, not a gorgeous, sprawling house. But I’ve always been a firm believer in the power of inspiration.
That said, I’m feeling bright pops of color, quirky accessories, nods to the 50′s (not hard in my 1950′s building), and chalkboard everything in my new place. I’ll be sure to let you guys know how Mission: Redecorate goes once I’m all settled!

When I have the money for a house, or when I’m settled, I’d like to dedicate a room to arts and crafts of all kinds, for me and my children. Let the walls get drawn all over until they’re full, take pictures, and paint the walls white to start all over again.
